OBJECTIVES: To revisit the diagnostic roles of cystoscopic hydrodistention and the potassium sensitivity test (PST) for the diagnosis of interstitial cystitis (IC).
METHODS: We prospectively enrolled 214 patients clinically diagnosed with IC, 125 non-IC patients who underwent video urodynamic studies and PST, and another 144 non-IC patients who underwent cystoscopic hydrodistention before transurethral surgery. The sensitivity, specificity, and positive and negative predictive values were calculated for the PST and glomerulations after cystoscopic hydrodistention.
RESULTS: After cystoscopic

PURPOSE: There is a lack of studies to show localization of botulinum toxins (BoNT) within bladder wall and/or absorption rates. Our study examined the later distribution of BoNTA/gadolinium within the bladder wall by performing a delayed MRI scan after intravesical injection. This potentially may help to explain the level and mechanism at which BoNT may be producing its effect.
METHODS: A prospective study enrolled 20 consecutive patients with neuropathic or idiopathic overactive bladders. The Aim of the study was to perform MRI 3 h post procedure. Botox 100-200 IU was reconstituted with 19

BACKGROUND: Cystoscopy evokes discomfort and pain, especially in males. The cystoscopic retrograde approach is standard in the removal of ureteral stents. However the satisfaction and degree of pain during the procedure according to the use of several pain controlling methods are unclear.
METHODS: This is a cross-sectional survey of 60 patients who underwent cystoscopic ureteral stent removal under intravenous analgesics (group 1, n = 20), midazolam induction (group 2, n = 20), and propofol (group 3, n = 20). Procedural pain and post-procedure satisfaction were determined, and cost difference

OBJECTIVE: To describe and evaluate the short- and long-term outcomes in female dogs after cystoscopic-guided laser ablation of ectopic ureters (CLA-EU).
DESIGN: Prospective case series.
ANIMALS: 32 incontinent female dogs with intramural ectopic ureters.
PROCEDURES: A diagnosis of intramural ectopic ureters was made via cystoscopy and fluoroscopy in all patients. Transurethral CLA-EU (via diode laser [n = 27] or Holmium:yttrium aluminum garnet laser [3]) was performed to relocate the ectopic ureteral orifice cranially into the urinary bladder. All vaginal anomalies were treated with the la

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: In the evaluation and treatment of patients with urethral strictures, assessment of the stricture is of paramount importance. To date, urologists have relied on retrograde or antegrade urethrography or both to define stricture length and associated characteristics. Antegrade urethrography typically requires suprapubic access to the bladder, adding to the morbidity of stricture treatment. Herein, we describe the feasibility of using a new method for diagnosing, staging, and managing urethral stricture disease.
PATIENTS AND METHODS: Twenty-four men with urethral strictur

Cystoscopy was done on 45 children, 5--12 yr old, infected with Schistosoma haematobium. On the basis of urinary egg output, the children were classifed as having mild, moderate, or heavy infection and the cystoscopic picture was correlated with their egg output and with their signs and symptoms. Lesions reported, in descending order of frequency, were: hyperemia, sandy patches, tubercles, ulcers, nodules, and polyps. Multiple schistosomal lesions were present in some patients and the frequency and severity of lesions correlated with the heaviness of infection. Individual variation in the seve

Public cystoscopic benchmarks are limited by scarce annotations, class imbalance, and weak structural supervision. Generic augmentation often fails to preserve anatomy, color fidelity, and pathology-related variation simultaneously. To address these challenges, Uro-PPLD is proposed-a latent diffusion framework that integrates chroma-luminance decoupled attention, anatomy-guided ControlNet, continuous filling-state conditioning, and a residual pathology adapter into one denoising backbone. Topology-aware and color-consistency constraints further enforce structural plausibility and appearance fi

BACKGROUND: Upper tract urothelial carcinoma (UTUC) has shown an increasing incidence, with intravesical recurrence (IVR) being a common postoperative challenge following radical nephroureterectomy. Although current guidelines recommend cystoscopic surveillance based on risk stratification, these recommendations are weak and may not adequately address IVR-specific risk factors or optimal surveillance intervals.
METHODS: We retrospectively analyzed 700 patients who underwent radical nephroureterectomy between 2012 and 2021. Risk factors for IVR were identified using Cox proportional hazards re

OBJECTIVE: To assess the association between cystoscopic findings and oncological outcomes in patients with non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC) given that the oncological impact of quantity and quality assessment of tumours with cystoscopy has not been well verified.
METHODS: Multiple databases were queried in May 2022 for studies investigating the association of oncological outcomes, such as recurrence-free (RFS), progression-free (PFS), and cancer-specific survival (CSS), with cystoscopic findings, including multiplicity, size, and gross appearance of tumours in patients with NMIBC.

INTRODUCTION: Ureteral spasm, common with ureteral stents, is partially mediated by prostaglandins and may be suppressed by cyclooxygenase inhibitors like non-steroidal anti-inflammatory (NSAIDs). Practices currently vary widely for pain management in patients with ureteral stents, sometimes including opioids.
OBJECTIVE: We aimed to determine if NSAID given prior to stent removal would reduce postoperative pain. We hypothesized there would be at least a 75% reduction in postoperative severe pain (pain score ≥7) in patients receiving ibuprofen compared to placebo.
STUDY DESIGN: We performed a
