Network analysis of psychosomatic symptoms in pharmacists during the pandemic.

We explored the networks and discriminant abilities of the current Psychosomatic Symptoms Scale (PSSS) in pharmacists for future abbreviation. Ten thousand seven hundred twenty-one pharmacists participated in this study through an online investigation. We used network analysis to reveal the central and bridge symptoms between the subscales (psychological and somatic symptoms) of the PSSS. Then, we utilized item response theory (IRT) to identify discriminant abilities of the current 26-item of PSSS. Over twenty percent of the pharmacists were troubled with significant psychosomatic issues durin

LBD: a manually curated database of experimentally validated lymphoma biomarkers.

Lymphoma is a heterogeneous disease caused by malignant proliferation of lymphocytes, resulting in significant mortality worldwide. While more and more lymphoma biomarkers have been identified with the advent and development of precision medicine, there are currently no databases dedicated to systematically gathering these scattered treasures. Therefore, we developed a lymphoma biomarker database (LBD) to curate experimentally validated lymphoma biomarkers in this study. LBD consists of 793 biomarkers extracted from 978 articles covering diverse subtypes of lymphomas, including 715 single and

Quality assessment of Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPG) for the diagnosis and treatment of inflammatory bowel disease using the AGREE II instrument: a systematic review.

BACKGROUND: The incidence and diagnosis of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) has increased considerably in recent years. Many clinical practice guidelines (CPG) have been developed for the management of this disease across different clinical contexts, however, little evidence exists on their methodological quality. Therefore, we aimed to systematically evaluate the quality of CPGs for the diagnosis and treatment of IBD using the Appraisal of Guidelines for Research and Evaluation (AGREE II) instrument. METHODS: We identified CPGs by searching databases (MEDLINE - PubMed, EMBASE, CINAHL, LILACS

The demography of COVID-19 deaths database, a gateway to well-documented international data.

National authorities publish COVID-19 death counts, which are extensively re-circulated and compared; but data are generally poorly sourced and documented. Academics and stakeholders need tools to assess data quality and to track data-related discrepancies for comparability over time or across countries. "The Demography of COVID-19 Deaths" database aims at bridging this gap. It provides COVID-19 death counts along with associated documentation, which includes the exact data sources and points out issues of quality and coverage of the data. The database - launched in April 2020 and continuously

The impact of histological grade on outcomes in follicular lymphoma: An analysis of patients in the SEER database in the context of evolving disease classification and treatment.

Currently, there is no convincing evidence that the grade of follicular lymphoma (FL) impacts patient outcome. We correlated grades in 33 925 patients with nodal FL during 1992-2018 in the SEER database with disease-specific survival (DSS) and overall survival (OS). Patients with FL grade 3 had lower DSS and OS as compared to FL grades 1-2. During 1992-2005, the 10-year DSS for patients with FL grades 3 and grades 1-2 were 68.6%, and 71.4%, respectively, and in 2006-2018, they were 77.7% and 82.6%, respectively. The 10-year OS estimates in 1992-2005 were 49.9% and 54.2% for grade 3 and grades

The Record Power Profile in Professional Female Cyclists: Normative Values Obtained From a Large Database.

PURPOSE: To describe the record power profile of professional female cyclists and to assess potential differences based on the type of rider. METHODS: Power output data (32,028 files containing both training and competition sessions recorded) in 44 female professional cyclists during 1-6 years were analyzed. Cyclists were categorized as all-rounders, time trialists, climbers, or sprinters. The record power profile was calculated using the mean maximal power output (MMP) values attained by each cyclist for different-effort durations (5 s to 60 min) expressed in relative (W·kg-1), as well as ab

A Novel Approach of SWATH-Based Metabolomics Analysis Using the Human Metabolome Database Spectral Library.

Metabolomics is a potential approach to paving new avenues for clinical diagnosis, molecular medicine, and therapeutic drug monitoring and development. The conventional metabolomics analysis pipeline depends on the data-independent acquisition (DIA) technique. Although powerful, it still suffers from stochastic, non-reproducible ion selection across samples. Despite the presence of different metabolomics workbenches, metabolite identification remains a tedious and time-consuming task. Consequently, sequential windowed acquisition of all theoretical MS (SWATH) acquisition has attracted much att

Development of a single retention time prediction model integrating multiple liquid chromatography systems: Application to new psychoactive substances.

Database-driven suspect screening has proven to be a useful tool to detect new psychoactive substances (NPS) outside the scope of targeted screening; however, the lack of retention times specific to a liquid chromatography (LC) system can result in a large number of false positives. A singular stream-lined, quantitative structure-retention relationship (QSRR)-based retention time prediction model integrating multiple LC systems with different elution conditions is presented using retention time data (n = 1281) from the online crowd-sourced database, HighResNPS. Modelling was performed using an

Terra firma-forme dermatosis: a systematic review.

Terra firma-forme dermatosis (TFFD) is an acquired pigmentation disorder that promptly regresses after applying isopropyl alcohol 70%. The clinical presentation ranges from patches of brownish discoloration to velvety hyperkeratotic plaques. Critical analyses of current data are lacking, so etiologies, pathogenesis, and disease associations are still debated in the literature. A literature search was done in the PubMed and Google Scholar databases to identify the published papers reporting clinical cases of TFFD. Of 102 papers screened, 64 met the including criteria. Overall, the records of 25

Identification and evaluation of outcome measurement instruments in pyoderma gangrenosum: a systematic review.

BACKGROUND: Pyoderma gangrenosum (PG) is a rare autoinflammatory skin condition that causes tissue destruction and subsequent painful ulcers. To date, there are no core domains or instruments for assessing PG severity in clinical trials, and current treatment paradigms rely on outcome measurements that have not been well characterized in the literature. OBJECTIVES: To perform two systematic reviews that (i) identify the outcome measurement instruments used in PG clinical trials and their corresponding domains and (ii) identify any associated validation studies and evaluate their measurement p

Plants obey (and disobey) the island rule.

The island rule predicts that small animals evolve to become larger on islands, while large animals evolve to become smaller. It has been studied for over half a century, and its validity is fiercely debated. Here, we provide a perspective on the debate by conducting a test of the island rule in plants. Results from an extensive dataset on islands in the southwest Pacific illustrate that plant stature and leaf area obey the island rule, but seed size does not. Our results indicate that the island rule may be more pervasive than previously thought and that support for its predictions varies amo
