The effects of various metal alloys on the oral fluid levels of IgA, serum IgA and IgG, and IgE of 115 subjects aged 20 to 60 were under study. Mixed salivary IgG levels were measured before and in various periods after fixation of dentures made of different alloys. IgA levels failed to normalize even in a year after fixation of dentures made of steel and titanium nitrite-coated steel, though IgG levels were unchanged in the same patients.

Various pressure-indicating media are available to assess the adaptation of the intaglio surface of a removable dental prosthesis at the insertion and follow-up appointments. This clinical report describes the use of an elastomer that entered the maxillary sinus through an undetected oroantral communication at the 24-hour follow-up for an immediate maxillary complete removable dental prosthesis. A Caldwell-Luc sinusotomy procedure was required to remove the material, and the patient required over 1 year of healing time before his reported symptoms resolved.

Oral squamous cell carcinomas result in significant impairment of oral function as they tend to invade bone. Bone invasion often mandates partial mandibular resection, such as hemimandibulectomy, which reduces overall quality of life. To rehabilitate such patients, fixed functional guide flanges position the mandible, improving overall masticatory ability. Custom fixed functional prostheses using digitally assisted dentistry are highly accurate. This technique uses digital technology and a digital workflow to fabricate an open-frame fixed functional guide flange prosthesis.
