The histologic alterations induced by spray refrigerants independent of and in combination with dermabrasion were studied with the use of the domestic pig as a model. Tissue injury was found to be a function of spray duration and freeze intensity. Both preabrasion freezing and postabrasion refreezing could produce damage additive to that of mechanical planing. Skin surface and intradermal temperature variations during refrigeration were recorded. The possible implications of these findings as they pertain to clinical dermabrasion are discussed.

We report two cases of scleromyxedema treated with melphalan (alkeran) and dermabrasion, both patients with central nervous system involvement. In the first case, herpetic encephalitis, possibly due to the immunoglobulin disturbance, preceded the skin changes. In the second case, impaired cerebral function was caused by a meningeoma. We present an unusual case of massive dermal cylindroma (turban tumor), occupying the entire scalpand forehead. It was treated by a total scalping procedure and skin grafting in two stages. BACKGROUND: Acne is an inflammatory disease of the pilosebaceous follicles. Oral isotretinoin is the treatment of choice for severe acne. Exaggerated cicatrization related to oral isotretinoin was reported in the 1980s and 1990s. OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to evaluate the therapeutic efficacy of minimally invasive dermabrasion for deep second-degree facial burn wounds during the early postburn phase.
METHODS: A total of 35 patients with deep second-degree facial burns underwent minimally invasive debridement using a hydrosurgery system within 2-4 days post-injury. Subsequently, the wounds were covered with human biological dressings. The wound infection rate, healing time, and overall healing quality following debridement were monitored.

BACKGROUND: Halo nevus (HN) is a rare dermatologic disorder characterized by typical whitish rim surrounding an existing melanocytic nevus resembling halo. It is a cosmetic problem that may be linked to vitiligo, and it is advised to remove these nevi in order to avoid development of vitiligo.
OBJECTIVES: The aim of the present study is to evaluate the cosmetic outcome after nevus removal and leukoderma dermabrasion with epithelial graft followed by narrow-band ultraviolet B (NB-UVB) phototherapy as management of resistant halo nevi and avoidance of development of vitiligo.
