[Prevalence and risk factors of gastroduodenal and biliary system diseases in infants and preschool children].

Gastroduodenal pathology, functional disorders and inflammatory diseases of the biliary tract take leading position among the diseases of the digestive system in children. Precisely these clinical forms are more intensive then other nosology. Continuous screening questionnaire of 786 children aged 1.5 to 7 years was carried out to study the prevalence and risk factors for diseases of the digestive system in children. Based on retrieved data was determined that 47,1 +/- 3,5% of children had symptoms of gastro-intestinal tract and biliary system diseases. They met 2.3 times more often in childre

Global burden and trends of stomach cancer, Colon and rectum cancer, peptic ulcer disease, and gastritis and duodenitis from 1990 to 2021: a systematic analysis for the global burden of disease study 2021.

BACKGROUND: Geographical disparities are evident in the burden of digestive system diseases. To date, however, a comparative analysis that simultaneously examines the burden of common digestive cancers alongside non-malignant conditions using the most recent GBD 2021 data is lacking. A comprehensive global assessment of the burden of digestive system diseases is therefore warranted. METHODS: This study analyzed incidence, prevalence, mortality, and DALYs of four digestive system diseases from the GBD 2021 database. The incidence, prevalence, mortality, and DALYs were further examined across a

Water hardness and digestive diseases: a large-scale population-based prospective cohort study.

BACKGROUND: Water hardness, which refers to the level of dissolved calcium and magnesium salts, is of significant public health concern due to its potential impact on health. The association between water hardness and digestive diseases remains underexplored, with limited evidence from small-scale clinical studies. Given the rising prevalence of digestive disorders worldwide, large-scale cohort studies are needed to address this gap in the literature. METHODS: This study aims to explore the link between domestic water hardness and the risk of digestive disorders, leveraging data from 356 000

Depressive Symptoms Trajectories and Chronic Digestive Disease in Chinese Middle-Aged and Older Adults: A Longitudinal Cohort Study.

Depression is one of the risk factors for chronic digestive system diseases. As a chronic mental disorder, its occurrence and development process is usually slow and gradual, while there are significant individual differences. Depression varies among different individuals in terms of the speed of onset, the stages of the disease course and its manifestations. Therefore, we speculate that this disease will exhibit different disease development trajectories in the population. This study aims to understand the characteristics of the development trajectory of depression among middle-aged and elder

Biological functions and potential therapeutic applications of huntingtin-associated protein 1: progress and prospects.

Huntington disease (HD) is a single-gene autosomal dominant inherited neurodegenerative disease caused by a polyglutamine expansion of the protein huntingtin (HTT). Huntingtin-associated protein 1 (HAP1) is the first protein identified as an interacting partner of huntingtin, which is directly associated with HD. HAP1 is mainly expressed in the nervous system and is also found in the endocrine system and digestive system, and then involves in the occurrence of the related endocrine diseases, digestive system diseases, and cancer. Understanding the function of HAP1 could help elucidate the path

Unlocking the power of probiotics, postbiotics: targeting apoptosis for the treatment and prevention of digestive diseases.

Digestive diseases are becoming an increasingly serious health burden, creating an urgent need to develop more effective treatment strategies. Probiotics and postbiotics have been extensively studied for their potential to prevent and treat digestive diseases. Growing evidence suggests that programmed cell death, especially apoptosis, is a critical mechanism influencing the molecular and biological aspects of digestive diseases, contributing to disease progression. Understanding the mechanisms and signaling pathways by which probiotics and postbiotics regulate apoptosis could reveal new therap

Meta-analysis of the association between new hypoglycemic agents and digestive diseases.

BACKGROUND: New hypoglycemic agents include sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 inhibitors (SGLT2is), glucagon-like peptide 1 receptor agonists (GLP1RAs), and dipeptidyl peptidase-4 inhibitors (DPP4is). The association between each class of these new hypoglycemic drugs and the risks of various digestive system diseases is unknown. We aimed to explore this relationship by performing a meta-analysis. METHODS: We included large randomized trials of SGLT2is, GLP1RAs, and DPP4is. Outcomes of interest were 91 kinds of digestive diseases including 75 kinds of gastrointestinal disorders and 16 kinds of he
