Three-dimensional MRI Analysis of Femoral Head Remodeling After Reduction in Patients With Developmental Dysplasia of the Hip.

BACKGROUND: Previous reports on patients with developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH) showed that the prereduced femoral head was notably smaller and more nonspherical than the intact head, with growth failure observed at the proximal posteromedial area. We evaluated the shape of the femoral head cartilage in patients with DDH before and after reduction, with size and sphericity assessed using 3-dimensional (3D) magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). METHODS: We studied 10 patients with unilateral DDH (all female) who underwent closed reduction. Patients with avascular necrosis of the femoral hea

Reduction of operating time and blood transfusion for craniosynostosis by simulated surgery using three-dimensional solid models.

Preoperative planning of craniofacial synostosis can be achieved through the use of two- or three-dimensional (3D) computed tomography (CT) images and by 3D solid models. The advantage of using 3D models was evaluated by calculating the amount of blood transfused and the operating time for 36 craniosynostosis procedures, 21 planned with 3D models and 15 with CT images performed in the past 7 years. The use of 3D models reduced both blood loss and operating time for fronto-orbital advancement with reshaping, LeFort III advancement, and LeFort IV minus Glabellar advancement; blood loss for front

Overcoming the absence of pre-traumatic imaging: a multiplanar three-dimensional virtual reduction workflow for mandibular condylar fractures.

BACKGROUND: A fundamental challenge in condylar fracture reconstruction with patient-specific implants is the absence of a pre-traumatic baseline, making direct intra-individual comparison impossible. Several virtual reduction workflows for mandibular condylar fractures have been introduced, but all currently available approaches rely on mirroring the healthy, unaffected condyle as a template for the affected side. However, contralateral mirroring is not feasible in bilateral fractures or cases with contralateral compromise. To address this limitation, the present study introduces a three-dime

Three-Dimensional Navigation-Assisted Open Reduction and Internal Fixation of a Subcondylar and Ramus Fracture on a Maxillary Oligodontia Patient.

Treatment of condylar fractures in patients with edentulous mandibles or no-occlusion reference is particularly challenging due to the absence of important anatomical structures and landmark for occlusion analysis. In this case, a 69-year-old female maxillary oligodontia victim suffered from a traumatic accident with a right facial contusion, resulting in a right-side subcondylar and mandibular ramus fracture with right ramus height loss. In the preoperative planning, the 3-dimensionalimage of the left-side mandible was highlighted by the navigation software. A mirror image of the left-side ma

Copper-Zinc Bimetallic Two-Dimensional Conjugated Coordination Polymers for Highly-Selective Electrochemical CO2 Reduction to Ethanol.

Copper-based catalysts are the most promising catalysts for their ability to electrochemically prepare multi-electron C2+ products like ethanol (C2H5OH). However, the challenges persist in achieving high yields and selectivity, attributed to the unstable intermediates during the CO2 reduction reaction (CO2RR). Here, we report layer-stacked two-dimensional conjugated coordination polymers (2D c-CPs) with spatially separated Cu/Zn-S4 bi-active sites (named as BHT-Cux-Zny, x + y = 1) as electrocatalysts for addressing the above challenges of low Faradaic efficiency (FE) and subpar selectivity for

Selective photocatalytic CO2 reduction to methane over CTAB-stabilized two-dimensional CsPbBr3 nanosheets with gold cocatalysts.

Photocatalytic carbon dioxide (CO2) reduction offers a sustainable route for converting solar energy into chemical fuels. However, achieving selective deep hydrogenation beyond CO remains challenging due to inefficient charge separation and rapid carrier recombination. In particular, selective conversion of CO2 to methane (CH4) requires sustained multi-electron transfer and stable reaction interfaces under continuous illumination. Herein, we report a cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB)-stabilized two-dimensional (2D) CsPbBr3 nanosheet photocatalyst decorated with size-controlled gold (Au) co

A new two-dimensional luminescent Ag12 cluster-assembled material and its catalytic activity for reduction of hexacyanoferrate(III).

Silver cluster-assembled materials (SCAMs) have garnered significant interest as promising platforms for different functional explorations. Their atomically precise structures, intriguing chemical/physical properties, and remarkable luminescent capabilities make them highly appealing. However, the properties of these materials are primarily determined by their structural architecture, which is heavily influenced by the linker molecules used in their assembly. The choice of linker molecules plays a pivotal role in shaping the structural characteristics and ultimately determining the unique prop

Two-Dimensional Dirac Nodal Line Carbon Nitride to Anchor Single-Atom Catalyst for Oxygen Reduction Reaction.

Two-dimensional carbon nitride (2DCN) materials have emerged as an important class of 2D materials beyond graphene. However, 2DCN materials with nodal-line semimetal characteristic are rarely reported. In this work, a new nodal-line semimetal 2DCN with the stoichiometry C4 N4 is designed by using density functional theory (DFT) calculations and its application to anchor single-atom catalysts (SACs) for the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) is investigated. C4 N4 is a planar covalent network (sp2 hybridization) with regular holes formed by the four N atoms, which is dynamically, thermodynamically

Can 3-Dimensional Printing for Calcaneal Fracture Surgery Decrease Operation Time and Improve Quality of Fracture Reduction?

We investigated whether 3-dimensional (3D) printed models can decrease operation time and improve the quality of reduction for calcaneal fractures. The study involved 48 patients with unilateral intra-articular calcaneal fractures, who were retrospectively case-matched according to Sander's classification, age, and sex. Group A (24 patients) was operated using 3D printed models as a preoperative and intraoperative tool, and group B (24 patients) was operated using standard techniques without 3D printed model. Operation time was significantly shorter for group A, compared to group B (82.3 ± 13.
