INTRODUCTION: Premacular hemorrhage (PH) and sub-internal limiting membrane hemorrhage (sub-ILM-H) are among the causes of sudden deterioration of central visual acuity. Anatomical and functional outcomes of different therapeutic options were evaluated retrospectively.
METHODS: The study included three eyes of three patients (2 females and 1 male). Location of the hemorrhage was determined by spectral domain optical coherence tomography. Subhyaloid premacular location of the hemorrhage was proven in one eye of each woman and sub-ILM location of the hemorrhage in one eye of the male. The basel

A 61-year-old man presented with coma and left hemiparesis. He was found to have tonic downward and inward deviation of the right eye, and a right lateral gaze palsy. He also had occasional downward bobbing movements of the right eye, and a partial bilateral upgaze paresis. CT showed a right pontine tegmental hemorrhage extending to the ipsilateral midbrain. Tonic ocular downward and inward deviation associated with pontine tegmental hemorrhage may be due to irritation of mesencephalic downgaze and convergence centers by rostral extension of the hematoma. Although 'eyes seeming to peer at the

BACKGROUND: Chronic granulomatous disease (CGD) is a rare primary immunodeficiency disease caused by genetic mutations. Clinical manifestations of CGD include recurrent infections, granuloma formation, and noninfectious inflammatory responses in multiple organs, while ocular involvement is uncommon. Chorioretinal lesions in cases of CGD are mostly inactive and tend not to affect vision, while active chorioretinal lesions and fundus hemorrhage are rare.
CASE DESCRIPTION: A 23-month-old male child with CYBB mutation was admitted to hospital due to fever and decreased visual acuity. He had poor

PURPOSE: To investigate the association of the peripapillary atrophy area with disc cupping area and disc hemorrhage in subjects who underwent ocular examination as part of a routine physical examination.
METHODS: We reviewed plain color fundus photographs taken of 12,140 eyes of 6,070 subjects as part of a routine health examination. The refractive error in these eyes was not known. Using a computerized image analysis system, we measured the area of peripapillary atrophy (zone beta), the optic disc, and optic disc cupping by means of planimetry in 8,842 eyes of 4,421 subjects with fundus ima

We evaluated the frequency and location of optic disk hemorrhages by examining morphometrically color stereo optic disk photographs of 1,505 glaucomatous eyes and 595 normal eyes. Disk hemorrhages were found in 61 of the glaucomatous eyes (4.1%) and in none of the normal eyes. The frequency of the hemorrhages increased from an early stage of glaucoma to a medium-advanced stage and decreased again toward a far-advanced stage. The disk hemorrhages were not found in disk regions or eyes without detectable neuroretinal rim. In early glaucoma, they were usually located in the inferotemporal or supe

BACKGROUND: Cases of intrapapillary hemorrhage with adjacent peripapillary subretinal hemorrhage usually appear in myopic eyes with tilted optic discs, can improve without any specific treatment, and very rarely recur. But there has been no report of the use of advanced multimodal imaging such as spectral domain optical coherence tomography. We describe two rare cases of intrapapillary hemorrhage with adjacent peripapillary subretinal hemorrhage in an 11-year-old female and a 16-year-old male.

Tirzepatide is a synthetic polypeptide classified as glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide/glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonist. It stimulates insulin secretion from the pancreas and helps lower blood sugar levels in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. It also reduces appetite and helps in weight reduction management. We report a case of unilateral vitreous hemorrhage in a middle-aged woman on tirzepatide for weight loss. A 55-year-old female, nondiabetic, on tirzepatide for weight loss presented with sudden visual loss in the right eye while being on tirzepatide. Her ocular his

BACKGROUND: A dense premacular hemorrhage may occur from proliferative diabetic retinopathy, a ruptured retinal artery macroaneurysm, or Valsalva retinopathy. Spontaneous clearing of the hemorrhage in Valsalva retinopathy usually occurs, taking several months. In diabetic retinopathy, a traction macular detachment may result as early as 5 weeks after the hemorrhage. In diabetic retinopathy or a macroaneurysm, only a fibrotic epiretinal membrane overlying the macula may develop. Observation or vitrectomy is the current way of managing a dense premacular hemorrhage. This study was undertaken to

Introduction. Terson syndrome is described as intraocular hemorrhage in association with any type of intracranial hemorrhage and is associated with higher mortality rate and vision loss. Intraocular hemorrhage in Terson syndrome may be diagnosed using computed tomography but there are false positive results. Silicone oil which is widely used for internal tamponade of complicated retinal detachments has high attenuation on computed tomography and hyperintensity on T1-weighted magnetic resonance imaging that can mimic intraocular hemorrhage. This report shows that silicone oil is another origin
