Oral anticholinergics such as oxybutynin (OOx) and glycopyrrolate (OGly) are frequently used in the management of hyperhidrosis. Although OOx is considered currently the anticholinergic drug of first choice, OGly is a safe and effective alternative if OOx fails. The aim of this study was to identify the main variables associated with treatment adherence by patients receiving OGly, for whom previous treatment with OOx had failed. A prospective study was conducted of patients with hyperhidrosis receiving treatment with OGly in the period 2012 to 2019. Epidemiological variables, treatment details

PURPOSE: Asthma-chronic obstructive pulmonary disease overlap (ACO), characterized by airway limitation, is an important condition with high incidence and mortality. Although some guidelines recommend triple therapy with inhaled corticosteroids/long-acting muscarinic antagonists/long-acting β2 agonists, this treatment approach is based on the extrapolation of data from studies of asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) alone.
METHODS: A 12-week, randomized, open-label cross-over pilot study was conducted in 19 patients with ACO to investigate the effect of triple therapy with g

BACKGROUND: Long-term use of inhaled corticosteroids (ICSs) has been associated with increased risk of bone and ocular comorbidities. We evaluated the effects of the triple fixed-dose combination budesonide/glycopyrrolate/formoterol fumarate metered dose inhaler (BGF MDI), formulated using co-suspension delivery technology, on bone mineral density (BMD) and ocular safety in patients with moderate-to-very severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
METHODS: In this extension study, a subset of patients from the 24-week, phase III, randomized, double-blind KRONOS study (NCT02497001) co

BACKGROUND: Postoperative delirium (POD) is an acute disturbance of attention and awareness in older adults undergoing surgery. It is associated with prolonged hospital stay and increased morbidity and mortality. Recent studies suggested that neostigmine, an acetylcholinesterase inhibitor used to reverse neuromuscular blockade, may reduce POD risk. We aim to evaluate whether neuromuscular blockade reversal with neostigmine/glycopyrrolate reduces POD compared with sugammadex.
METHODS: This single-center, triple-masked, randomized, controlled superiority trial will enroll 320 older adults sched

Hyperhidrosis, or abnormally increased sweating, is a condition that may have a primary or secondary cause. Usually medication- induced secondary hyperhidrosis manifests with generalized, rather than focal sweating. We report a 32-year-old woman with a history of palmoplantar hyperhidrosis for 15 years who presented for treatment and was prescribed oral glycopyrrolate. One month later, the palmoplantar hyperhidrosis had resolved, but she developed new persistent craniofacial sweating. After an unsuccessful trial of clonidine, oxybutynin resolved the craniofacial hyperhidrosis. To our knowledge

BACKGROUND: Glycopyrrolate given as reversing agents of muscle relaxants has been reported to be effective in reducing postoperative catheter-related bladder discomfort (CRBD). However, it remains unclear whether glycopyrrolate as premedication is also effective. This study aims to investigate the effectiveness of glycopyrrolate as premedication on preventing CRBD in the post-anesthesia care unit (PACU).
METHODS: Eighty-three patients who received elective ureteroscopic removal of ureteral stone were randomly assigned to the control (n = 43) or the glycopyrrolate group (n = 40). The glycopyrr

Bronchodilator reversibility occurs in patients with COPD. Pooled analysis of two 12-week, placebo-controlled randomised studies (FLIGHT1 [NCT01727141]; FLIGHT2 [NCT01712516]) assessed the effect of bronchodilator reversibility on lung function, patient-reported outcomes, and safety in 2,043 patients with moderate-to-severe COPD treated with indacaterol/glycopyrrolate (IND/GLY) 27.5/15.6 µg twice daily. Reversibility was defined as post-bronchodilator increase in forced expiratory volume in one second (FEV1) of ≥12% and ≥0.200 L. Overall, mean reversibility (mean post-bronchodilator FEV1 incre

INTRODUCTION: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is associated with exacerbations which can reduce quality of life and increase mortality. Single-inhaler triple therapy (SITT) is recommended for maintenance treatment of COPD among patients experiencing exacerbations despite dual-therapy use. This real-world comparative effectiveness study compared the impact of SITTs, fluticasone furoate/umeclidinium/vilanterol (FF/UMEC/VI), and budesonide/glycopyrrolate/formoterol fumarate (BUD/GLY/FORM), on COPD exacerbations and mortality.

INTRODUCTION: Triple inhaled therapy (TT) in one device has been shown in clinical trials to reduce exacerbations and in some cases mortality compared to dual inhaled therapy (DT) in one device in the population of moderate to very severe COPD patients and previous exacerbations. This evidence must be contrasted in real-world conditions.
PATIENTS AND METHODS: Non-intervention retrospective cohort study comparing the incidence of moderate and severe exacerbations in COPD patients treated with TT (formoterol, glycopyrrolate and budesonide, 5mcg/72mcg/320mcg, n=112) and DT (LAMA/LABA/ or LABA/in
