The male of the gonad-infecting nematode Philometra filiformis (Stossich, 1896) (Philometridae) is for the first time described, based on specimens from the ovary of the marine fish Pagellus erythrinus (Linnaeus) from the Tyrrhenian Sea off Sicily, Italy. It is mainly characterized by the testis extending anteriorly nearly to the anterior end of body, the oesophagus without a usual anterior inflation, the absence of a dorsal barb or distinct transverse lamellae on the tip of the gubernaculum, the measurements of the spicules and the gubernaculum, and a fairly long body.

PURPOSE: Perioperative surgical findings in congenital and acquired undescended testis (UDT) were prospectively assessed.
METHODS: We included all boys with congenital or acquired UDT who underwent orchidopexy at our hospital between January 2006 and August 2009. INTRODUCTION: Adult idiopathic hydrocele is a common benign disorder that merits surgical correction when symptomatic. The most popular techniques for repair are plication (Lord's procedure) or excision and eversion of the tunica vaginalis (Jaboulay procedure). Established complications from these traditional repairs include hematoma, recurrence, and infection. These procedures are performed through a scrotal incision. METHODS: The authors reviewed a 14-year (1986 through 1999) surgical experience in 360 boys in whom 461 orchidopexies were performed for acquired-UDT.
