Recently, computer systems including several delivery systems have been installed in the Central Clinical Laboratory of Kyoto University Hospital. As for the physiological examination system, we have introduced PRINS (Physiological-examination Result Information Network System) using an NEC computer and LAN. The computer for receipt was expanded to a new schedule file and a management schedule file. Consequently, reservation system of medical clinic was made and check seats of order decreased in number. A COMputerized Patient Advice System (COMPAS) was designed to test the feasibility of using the HELP clinical information system to direct the respiratory therapy of intensive care (ICU) patients acutely ill with adult respiratory distress syndrome. The introduction of the intensive care unit (ICU) in the 1960s with its demands for management of large volumes of patient data drove the initial introduction of computers into the ICU. Since the mid-1960s computer systems for the ICU have evolved into the highly sophisticated bedside workstations commercially available today. Despite all of the technologic advances in computers, their application in ICUs in the United States continues to spread very slowly. One of the largest problems is justifying the cost of systems primarily designed to automate data charting and generation of care plans.

OBJECTIVE: To analyze the temporal trend of hospitalizations caused by abortion in Brazil between 2008-2018, according to region and federal units (FU).
METHODS: Ecological study concerning hospitalizations due to abortion of women of childbearing age, from Hospital Information System data. The rates were calculated according the characteristics of women. The trend was assessed by Prais-Winsten generalized linear regression.
