BACKGROUND: Although the number of female physicians in the United States has been increasing, most practicing surgeons in the United States are men. By contrast, Indonesia has achieved notable gender parity among surgeons, with the number of women practicing as plastic surgeons projected to soon surpass that of men. Achieving greater female representation in plastic surgery is important for delivering high-quality care, especially in the face of physician shortages and high burnout rates.

BACKGROUND: This study aimed to identify the major ocular abnormality findings (i.e., cataract and conjunctival and corneal calcification (CCC)) among hemodialysis (HD) patients and their risk factors.
METHODS: A single institute-based cross-sectional study in Indonesia. Demographic data, medical histories, and complete ocular examinations were collected. Zika virus (ZIKV) JMB-185 strain was isolated from a febrile patient in Jambi, Indonesia in 2014. A hospital-based case-control study was conducted in Ujungpandang, Indonesia, to determine the association of breast cancer and current and former oral contraceptive (OC) use. This study included 119 newly diagnosed, histologically-confirmed, breast cancer cases who were admitted to the four largest referral hospitals in Ujungpandang from 1990-1991. Controls were 258 women admitted to these same four hospitals with diagnoses unrelated to breast cancer or OC use. Thirty cases (32%) and 55 (19%) controls reported having ever used OCs. A biomedical survey was conducted in several areas of Irian Jaya, Indonesia in July 1972 in association with an investigation of reports of a cholera outbreak. Stool specimens, blood smears and sera were collected and examined for evidence of parasitic as well as other infectious diseases. This study describes the first outbreak of Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD) in cattle in the Bengkalis region, Indonesia, and vaccination to control the epidemic. Data on the outbreak and vaccination was obtained from the local veterinary authority of the Bengkalis region, Indonesia. Climatological data was provided by the Meteorological, Climatological, and Geophysical Agency of Riau Province.
