Intrauterine device is the most widely used method of reversible contraception. It may cause various complications including perforation of uterus. In this case, 44-year-old woman was presented with lower urinary tract symptoms after six years of insertion. Patient has no remarkable physical or laboratory finding but abdominal ultrasound revealed a 27 mm hyperechogenicity, suggestive of foreign body or calculus on the posterior bladder wall which was removed endoscopically. This case highlights the need of immediate and periodic evaluation of women with intrauterine device to avoid missing ser

Intrauterine device (IUD) migration is a rare complication that may necessitate surgical removal, typically via laparoscopy. With advancements in endoscopic surgery, vaginal natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery (vNOTES) offers a scarless and minimally invasive alternative. A 27-year-old woman (G2P2) with a history of IUD placement 4 years ago was diagnosed with an ectopic IUD in the right adnexa. vNOTES was performed under general anesthesia using the vPORT system (Ankalap, Biomicro Turkiye) for transvaginal access. The IUD was safely removed without complications. This case highlig

Although the intrauterine device (IUD) seems a reliable and relatively safe method of contraception, it may cause serious complications. A rare complication is uterus perforation. Intravesical migration and secondary calculus formation is exceptionally uncommon. The authors report on a 75-year-old woman in whom a 'forgotten' migrated IUD resulted in vesico-vaginal fistula formation and chronic kidney disease, 39 years after insertion.

Rectal migration of an intrauterine device (IUD) is a rare but potentially serious complication requiring prompt diagnosis and management. We present a rare case of rectal migration of an intrauterine device (IUD) in a 26-year-old female, highlighting the clinical presentation, diagnostic evaluation, laparoscopic removal, and postoperative outcomes. This case emphasizes the critical importance of vigilant monitoring, early intervention, and close follow-up in managing IUD migration to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Timely recognition and intervention resulted in successful symptom resolution

Intrauterine contraceptive device (IUCD) is a commonly utilized reversible contraceptive technique especially in the developing world. Though effective, it is not immune to complications. Migration of the device is a rare but serious complication which may be symptomatic or asymptomatic. We report a case of a 45 yr old woman who had IUCD inserted 20 years earlier and had forgotten about it since she subsequently had three full-term pregnancies leading to successful vaginal deliveries. The forgotten IUCD was discovered incidentally during evaluation of the woman for haematuria as it had migrate

INTRODUCTION AND IMPORTANCE: An intrauterine contraceptive device (IUCD) is a highly effective, long-term, and safe contraceptive method. However, serious complications, such as uterine perforation, can occur, particularly in high-risk women, thereby necessitating close follow-up.
CASE PRESENTATION: A 35-year-old woman, para 3 + 3, with 3 living children, all delivered by cesarean section, presented with persistent lower abdominal pain and vaginal bleeding 5 months postdelivery and IUCD insertion. The IUCD string was not visualized on either clinical examination or hysteroscopy. Ultrasonograp

INTRODUCTION: Uterine carcinosarcomas are extremely rare gynecological neoplasms. The coexistence of intraabdominal foreign bodies, such as migrated IUDs, and uterine neoplasms, particularly carcinosarcomas, represents a significant clinical challenge and infrequent association. Chronic inflammation associated with foreign bodies can act as a cofactor in carcinogenesis and explain the appearance of these tumors.
CASE PRESENTATION: A 65-year-old woman with a history of cesarean section, presented to the emergency department with a 5-day complaint of abdominal pain, nausea and constipation. An

INTRODUCTION: Intrauterine devices (IUDs) are commonly used as a contraceptive method. However, they may cause rare but potentially serious complications such as migration through the uterine wall and gastrointestinal perforation.
PRESENTATION OF CASE: We report a case of a 26-year woman, carrying an IUD for 2 years, who presented to the emergency with pelvic pain with breakthrough bleeding. Abdominal imaging revealed the presence of two devices the first of which was located in the uterine cavity and the other in the wall of the sigmoid colon associated with a 5-centimeter pelvic collection.

We describe the case of a 43-year-old woman presented with an 8-month history of intermittent non-specific abdominal pain. She had an Intrauterine Contraceptive Device (IUCD) inserted 4-years ago and the device was still in-situ. After initial gynaecological assessment, further clinical radiological investigations, computerized tomography imaging showed that the intraluminal part of the radiological foreign body was seen to be possibly perforating the sigmoid colon after having migrated. Diagnostic laparoscopy confirmed this and a laparotomy was performed to remove the foreign body (IUCD) foll

Intrauterine devices (IUDs) are widely used but carry rare risks of migration and subsequent complications, such as bowel obstruction. This case highlights the life-threatening potential of chronic IUD migration decades after insertion, emphasizing the need for heightened clinical vigilance and long-term surveillance. A 57-year-old female patient presented to the hospital with a 2-day history of abdominal pain, accompanied by the cessation of flatus and defecation. She had one pregnancy and one vaginal delivery 31 years ago, followed by the insertion of a ring-shaped IUD 1 year postpartum. How

BACKGROUND: Intrauterine devices (IUDs) are among the most popular contraceptive methods globally due to their convenience and cost-effectiveness. However, improper placement can lead to complications such as device migration and uterine perforation, with increased risk observed when IUDs are implanted within four to six weeks postpartum. Typically, patients are asymptomatic or experience mild lower abdominal discomfort or minor abnormal vaginal bleeding following IUD displacement. Advances in diagnostic techniques have resulted in an increased reporting of uterine perforations due to IUD migr

RATIONALE: Partial intrauterine device (IUD) migration into the abdominal cavity with bladder penetration and secondary calculus formation represents a rare complication. This case underscores the critical role of multimodal imaging and interdisciplinary collaboration.
PATIENT CONCERNS: A 30-year-old woman presented with refractory urinary symptoms and recurrent infections a decade after the insertion of a copper "Mother" IUD (a common type of copper IUD in China). Initial ultrasonography suggested intrauterine metallic echoes. Hysteroscopy retrieved metallic fragments but failed to locate th

BACKGROUND: Intrauterine devices are safe, affordable, convenient, and the most common form of contraception used by females of childbearing age in Palestine. A rare complication of intrauterine devices is migration to nearby structures, rarely the urinary bladder, leading to bladder stone formation.
CASE PRESENTATION: A 34-year-old female patient presented due to repeated urinary tract infections and flank pain associated with lower urinary tract symptoms, including dysuria, frequency, and gross hematuria. Subsequent laboratory tests revealed a past medical history of iron-deficiency anemia.

BACKGROUND Small bowel obstruction (SBO) is a common surgical emergency, most frequently caused by postoperative adhesions or hernias. SBO resulting from migration of an intrauterine device (IUD) is exceedingly rare but can be life‑threatening. CASE REPORT We present 2 cases of postmenopausal women with long-term IUD retention (>30 years) who developed acute abdominal pain and clinical signs of intestinal obstruction. Preoperative abdominal CT revealed dilated small bowel loops with surrounding fluid and inflammatory changes, along with an ectopic ring-shaped IUD through which a segment of ile
