Uveal melanoma prognostication studies have mainly included posterior uveal melanomas located in the ciliary body and choroid, often excluding iris melanoma. In this study, we report prognostic status and survival outcomes in a series of 35 patients with biopsy-proven iris melanoma. Phacoemulsification cataract surgery with small clear corneal incision (CCI) is the standard of care for cataract treatment. CASE REPORT: The case is presented of a patient with diagnosis of iris nevus in the left eye in youth with a poor follow-up, who referred a decreased visual acuity in that eye. A hyphaema and a 3×4×3mm nodule with irregular pigmentation was observed. Excision of the tumour and histological analysis confirmed the suspicion of iris melanoma in stage Ia.
DISCUSSION: Despite the low grade malignancy of iris melanoma and the low frequency of transformation of iris nevus into melanoma, a follow-up is required for its early diagnosis and treatment.

Iris mammillations are rarely described, distinctive villiform protuberances that can cover the iris. In the majority of reported cases they are unilateral and sporadic, and are seen in association with oculodermal melanosis. Primary cysts of the iris usually arise from the pigment epithelial layers and are almost always benign, stationary lesions which require no treatment. Those cysts which are secondary to such agents as trauma or inflammation are, however, characterized by progressive enlargement and visual complications. The major clinical significance of iris cysts lies in their similarity to iris melanomas. Cysts should be monitored for enlargement and/or other complications such as inflammation or secondary glaucoma.

A family is described with hypoplasia of the anterior iris stroma, no angle anomalies, and no glaucoma. The pedigree is suggestive of an autosomal dominant mode of inheritance. This is compared to the main peripheral malformations of the anterior chamber cleavage syndrome and other disease entities with similar iris changes. The iris-plane (Copeland) pseudophakos was evaluated in two 81-case surgical series. An early series consisted of the first 81 operations performed in the Miami community before a temporary moratorium on Oct 1, 1969. Pseudo-plateau iris configuration (PPIC) is an under-recognized cause of persistent angle narrowing in the young population, characterized by anterior displacement of the peripheral iris secondary to iridociliary cysts. Although quite common in the general population, occurring in up to half of otherwise normal eyes, only a small subset of ciliary body (CB) cysts produce clinically significant angle compromise. The condition often remains undetected because routine anterior-segment evaluation lacks the ability to visualize the CB, and ultrasound biomicroscopy (UBM) is not universally employed.

BACKGROUND: To report the clinicopathological features and epidemiology of iris melanoma in Queensland, Australia.
METHODS: This was a retrospective study of 86 patients with iris melanoma treated between 2001 and 2022 at the Queensland Ocular Oncology Service, Brisbane, Australia. Main outcome measures included demographics, clinical and phenotypic features, age-adjusted incidence and relative survival.

Primary angle closure glaucoma is the main type of glaucoma in Asia. Plateau iris is one of the important mechanisms of non-pupil block. After years of research, the concept of plateau iris has been gradually clarified, and its epidemiology, pathogenesis, diagnosis and treatment have been gradually recognized. The purpose of this review is to describe the relationship between plateau iris and angle closure glaucoma, and to provide reference for clinical treatment and research of angle closure glaucoma.
