To determine the frequency and distribution of extrahepatic and extraskeletal metastases in patients with breast carcinoma, the abdominal CT scans of 260 consecutive patients were systematically evaluated. Extrahepatic and extraskeletal metastases were demonstrated in 26 patients (10%). Confirmation of findings was made by biopsy, autopsy, or by demonstration of progression or regression of disease. Twelve patients (4.6%) demonstrated metastases to the stomach, eleven of whom presented with a linitis plastica pattern. Retroperitoneal and/or mesenteric adenopathy was noted in 10 patients (3.8%)

Breast cancer is the most common type of cancer among women worldwide. Gastric metastasis from invasive lobular carcinoma of the breast is unusual. AIM: To report on a more accurate diagnostic possibility offered by endoscopic ultrasound-guided cutting of holes and deep biopsy (EUS-CHDB) for pathologic diagnosis of gastric infiltrative tumors and gastrointestinal submucosal tumors.
METHODS: Ten consecutive patients who were suspected of having gastric invasive tumors or gastrointestinal submucosal tumors underwent EUS-CHDB with a novel vertical diathermic loop. We reviewed their medical data and analysed the effectiveness and safety of this new method. The final diagnosis was based on the surgical pathology or clinical/imaging follow-up.

PURPOSE: To evaluate the radiological spectrum of sequelae of corrosive acid and alkali injury to the upper gastrointestinal (GI) tract using barium contrast examination.
MATERIAL AND METHODS: Barium contrast radiographic films of 155 patients with a history of corrosive ingestion, acid in 120 and alkali in 35 patients with grade 2b and 3 injury on initial endoscopy, were retrospectively evaluated. BACKGROUND: The role of gastrectomy in the face of incurable gastric cancer is evolving. We sought to evaluate our experience with incomplete (i.e., R2) gastrectomy in advanced gastric cancer.
METHODS: We reviewed 210 locally advanced or metastatic gastric cancers (1992-2008). Patient characteristics and outcomes were compared between three groups: gastrectomy (N = 99), exploration without resection (N = 66), and no surgery (N = 45).
