Development of a data classification system for preterm birth cohort studies: the RECAP Preterm project.

BACKGROUND: The small sample sizes available within many very preterm (VPT) longitudinal birth cohort studies mean that it is often necessary to combine and harmonise data from individual studies to increase statistical power, especially for studying rare outcomes. Curating and mapping data is a vital first step in the process of data harmonisation. To facilitate data mapping and harmonisation across VPT birth cohort studies, we developed a custom classification system as part of the Research on European Children and Adults born Preterm (RECAP Preterm) project in order to increase the scope an

In-depth bibliometric analysis and current scientific mapping research in the context of rheumatoid arthritis pharmacotherapy.

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic multifactorial disorder of autoimmune etiology with a complex pathophysiological mechanism that is not yet fully elucidated. RA pharmacotherapy includes active molecules of chemical or biological nature that offer symptomatic relief and a slowing of progression, but still in a context of incurability. Therefore, the development of continuous research and multidisciplinary collaboration is essential. Although the management of RA is a topic of significant scientific relevance, existing bibliometric analyses are insufficient to assess this vast field. Conse

Therapeutic role of mesenchymal stem cells in neurogenesis for management of neurological disorders: a scientometric study to an in-depth review.

BACKGROUND: The biological process of neurogenesis involves the production of new and completely functional neurons in two specific regions of the brain: the ventricular-subventricular zone (V-SVZ) and the subgranular zone (SGZ) of the hippocampal dentate gyrus by neural stem cells (NSCs). Interfering with this mechanism harms the brain and may result in neurological disorders. Cell-based therapies are becoming recognized as optimal possibilities for facilitating neurogenesis. To comprehend the many processes and mechanisms of neurogenesis and the role of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) as activ

Socioeconomic burden of osteoarthritis in Sub-Saharan Africa and the determinants of healthcare inequities: a scoping review protocol.

INTRODUCTION: Access to musculoskeletal healthcare services in Sub-Saharan Africa is inadequate. As osteoarthritis is the most prevalent chronic osteoarticular disease globally, it's essential to understand its social and economic impact, as well as the determinants of inequities in access to healthcare services in Sub-Saharan Africa. The absence of systematised knowledge on this topic makes this review pertinent. However, due to data scarcity, assessing this burden is challenging. The objective of this scoping review is to map and summarise the available literature up to 2025 on the socioecon

Enhanced Skin Delivery of Mussel Adhesive Protein Modified Pluronic F127 Micelles Loaded with Curcumin for Effective Topical Treatment of Psoriasis.

BACKGROUND: Psoriasis is a long-term inflammatory skin disorder that significantly impacts the physical and psychological well-being of those affected. Curcumin (Cur) is a natural compound that holds promise for the topical management of psoriasis. However, the barrier property of the stratum corneum (SC) and the insufficient retention ability of the drug in the skin have severely restricted the clinical efficacy of Cur. To overcome these limitations, we introduced mussel adhesive protein (MAP) for its superior bioadhesive properties, and developed Cur-loaded MAP modified Pluronic F127 micelle

A novel MRI-based quantitative water content atlas of the human brain.

The measurement of quantitative, tissue-specific MR properties, e.g., water content, longitudinal relaxation time (T1) and effective transverse relaxation time (T2⁎), using quantitative MRI at a clinical field strength (1.5 T to 3T) is a well-explored topic. However, none of the commonly used standard brain atlases, such as MNI or JHU, provide quantitative information. Within the framework of quantitative MRI of the brain, this work reports on the development of the first quantitative brain atlas for tissue water content at 3T. A methodology to create this quantitative atlas of in vivo brain w

Lesion correlates of auditory sentence comprehension deficits in post-stroke aphasia.

Auditory sentence comprehension requires coordination of multiple levels of processing: auditory-phonological perception, lexical-semantic comprehension, syntactic parsing and discourse construction, as well as executive functions such as verbal working memory (WM) and cognitive control. This study examined the lesion correlates of sentence comprehension deficits in post-stroke aphasia, building on prior work on this topic by using a different and clinically-relevant measure of sentence comprehension (the Token Test) and multivariate (SCCAN) and connectome-based lesion-symptom mapping methods.

Impacts of warming and acidification on pesticide toxicity in continental aquatic environments: A scientometric and systematic map.

Carbon dioxide emissions are altering aquatic ecosystems by causing water acidification and temperature increases, and these environments are also facing pesticide contamination. We present a scientometric and systematic map of these impacts in continental aquatic environments, aiming to provide an overview of research investigating the effects of temperature and acidification on pesticide toxicity. Our findings reveal a significant increase in research output on this topic, especially over the past seven years, with the United States leading due to high pesticide use and rigorous environmenta

Applicability and usage of dose mapping/accumulation in radiotherapy.

Dose mapping/accumulation (DMA) is a topic in radiotherapy (RT) for years, but has not yet found its widespread way into clinical RT routine. During the ESTRO Physics workshop 2021 on "commissioning and quality assurance of deformable image registration (DIR) for current and future RT applications", we built a working group on DMA from which we present the results of our discussions in this article. Our aim in this manuscript is to shed light on the current situation of DMA in RT and to highlight the issues that hinder consciously integrating it into clinical RT routine. As a first outcome of
