In-Simulation Versus Post-Simulation Debriefing in Medical Training: A Scoping Review and Theoretical Framework for Military Application.

INTRODUCTION: Simulation-based medical training is important for readiness. Feedback and debriefing are important components of simulation that support learning. Debriefs for military training are traditionally conducted at the conclusion of training, but recent evidence in the civilian medical training literature suggests that in-simulation debriefing may provide benefits for skill acquisition. The purpose of this scoping review is to map the body of literature examining post-simulation and in-simulation debriefing, highlight trends in the literature, and identify research gaps. Adjustment disorders: A research gaps analysis.

Adjustment disorders are among the most commonly diagnosed mental health disorders in both civilian and military clinical settings. Despite their high prevalence, adjustment disorders have received little research attention. The many gaps in our understanding of this group of disorders hinder the development of adequate, evidence-based treatment protocols. This study utilizes a systematic methodology to identify and prioritize research gaps in adjustment disorders. We used authoritative source reports to identify gaps in research domains from foundational science to services research. Subject-

Cross-sectional study protocol to assess ultraviolet radiation exposure among military outdoor workers in Lohatla, Northern Cape Province of South Africa.

INTRODUCTION: The sun is one of the primary natural sources of ultraviolet radiation (UVR) and a known human carcinogen. It has been related to melanoma and several skin cancers, such as squamous cell carcinoma and basal cell carcinoma. Non-melanoma skin cancers are prevalent in South Africa, with high reported incidence rates in both genders. Due to its diversified population, South Africa experiences extreme ultraviolet index (UVI) levels, reaching 13 in the summer (a UVI of 11+ is considered extreme). Most summer workdays expose outdoor workers to repeated UVR exposure, which can lead to he

Forensic reconstruction of two military combat related shooting incidents using an anatomically correct synthetic skull with a surrogate skin/soft tissue layer.

Six synthetic head models wearing ballistic protective helmets were used to recreate two military combat-related shooting incidents (three per incident, designated 'Incident 1' and 'Incident 2'). Data on the events including engagement distances, weapon and ammunition types was collated by the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory. The models were shot with 7.62 × 39 mm ammunition downloaded to mean impact velocities of 581 m/s (SD 3.5 m/s) and 418 m/s (SD 8 m/s), respectively, to simulate the engagement distances. The damage to the models was assessed using CT imaging and dissection by a

Comparing military and civilian critical thinking and information processes in operational risk management: what are the lessons?

Business continuity has expanded into a discipline that spans most functional areas of large enterprises. Both the military and financial sectors have consistently demonstrated an aptitude to expand the boundaries of continuity planning and crisis mitigation. A comparison of both enterprises is provided to see how their respective methodologies compare. Interestingly, the similarities far outweigh the differences. The paper provides commentary related to comparative insight from risk practitioners' perspectives from within the US Army, one of the largest military organisations in the world, an

Sociodemographic factors and career growth as determinants of staff retention among nurses in a military hospital in Saudi Arabia.

Nurses are the backbone of healthcare systems, and their retention remains a critical global challenge, as high attrition leads to a loss of expertise, continuity of care, and patient trust. The main objective of this study is to examine whether sociodemographic factors and career growth act as determinants of staff retention among nurses working in a military hospital in Saudi Arabia. A cross-sectional analytic study was conducted among nurses employed at an Armed Forces Hospital in Saudi Arabia over a 3-month period between June and August 2025. Data were collected using an online self-admin
