Early Rehabilitation Interventions for Neurological Function Recovery in Patients with Acute Cerebral Infarction: A Meta-Analysis.

Acute cerebral infarction causes substantial neurological disability, and the efficacy of early rehabilitation-based interventions remains uncertain. This meta-analysis evaluated their effects on neurological recovery. PubMed, Cochrane Library, Embase, Web of Science, and China National Knowledge Infrastructure were searched for randomized controlled trials comparing early rehabilitation-based interventions with standard care. Random-effects models with restricted maximum likelihood and Hartung-Knapp adjustment were applied, and risk of bias was assessed using the Cochrane Risk of Bias 2 tool.

Neurogenic Pelvic Floor Dysfunctions Across Neurological Disorders: Mechanisms, Phenotypes, and Precision Rehabilitation Pathways-A Narrative Review.

Background: Pelvic floor dysfunction (PFD) is frequent in neurological disorders, but it is often approached as a secondary urological or gynecological problem rather than a functional rehabilitation target. Neurological disease can disturb cortical, pontine, spinal, sacral, autonomic, somatic, and sensory pathways that regulate bladder storage, voiding, bowel evacuation, sexual function, and pelvic pain modulation. Methods: This narrative review synthesized biomedical evidence identified through PubMed searches from database inception to 2 May 2026. Search concepts included neurogenic lower u

Transcranial direct current stimulation for balance rehabilitation in neurological disorders: A systematic review and meta-analysis.

Postural instability is common in neurological diseases. Although transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) seems to be a promising complementary therapy, emerging evidence indicates mixed results and protocols' characteristics. We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis on PubMed, EMBASE, Scopus, and Web of Science to synthesize key findings of the effectiveness of single and multiple sessions of tDCS alone and combined with other interventions on balance in adults with neurological disorders. Thirty-seven studies were included in the systematic review and 33 in the meta-analysis

Using Sensor Technology to Measure Gait Capacity and Gait Performance in Rehabilitation Inpatients with Neurological Disorders.

The aim of this study was to objectively assess and compare gait capacity and gait performance in rehabilitation inpatients with stroke or incomplete spinal cord injury (iSCI) using inertial measurement units (IMUs). We investigated how gait capacity (what someone can do) is related to gait performance (what someone does). Twenty-two inpatients (11 strokes, 11 iSCI) wore ankle positioned IMUs during the daytime to assess gait. Participants completed two circuits to assess gait capacity. These were videotaped to certify the validity of the IMU algorithm. Regression analyses were used to investi

Team-Based Long-Term Multidisciplinary Inpatient Neurological Rehabilitation After Surgery of Cerebral Meningioma-Outcome and Confounding Factors.

OBJECTIVE: Cerebral meningiomas are the most common primary intracranial tumors in adults. Treatment of symptomatic tumors is normally surgical; tumors not suitable for surgery can be irradiated. While there is good data on the effectiveness of acute therapy, little is known about the effects of long-term team-based multidisciplinary inpatient neurological rehabilitation. We analyzed the outcome of these patients undergoing neurological rehabilitation. METHODS: We performed a retrospective analysis of patients with cerebral meningioma who underwent specialized rehabilitation. We analyzed rout

Robot-aided sensorimotor arm training methods based on neurological rehabilitation principles in stroke and brain injury patients.

We developed the upper extremity compound movements (UECM) rehabilitation training robot and designed straight-line paths tracking and circle paths tracking exercise based on neurological rehabilitation principles. Rehabilitative exercises should be on hand paths rather than on individual joints. robot can guide patients during forward reaching movements. The exterior oriented circle movement performed the coactivation of shoulder abductors with elbow extensors and the coactivation of shoulder adductors with elbow flexors at most of tracks against the stereotypic movement pattern in stroke and

[From stroke via swollen joints to M. Whipple: case report from neurological rehabilitation and review of literature].

Whipple's disease is a rare systemic disease caused by a chronic infection with Tropheryma whipplei, which can often only be diagnosed years after the first symptoms appear. The symptoms are varied and sometimes unspecific. In addition to cachexia, recurrent joint swelling and abdominal complaints, neurological symptoms with dementia, myoclonus and motor neuron disease also occur. In the reported case, symptoms such as joint swelling and spasms of the legs occurred during neurological rehabilitation following a paramedian pons infarction. The close collaboration between the neurological rehabi

Forced use as a potential cause of gastrocnemius tears during neurologic rehabilitation: a report of 2 cases.

Broadly defined, forced-use therapy uses specific techniques designed to engage the patient with brain injury in activities that disallow overcompensation with the noninvolved or less involved body segments while forcing the use of the more involved segments. Some applications may involve placing the patient's hemiparetic extremity in a closed-chain weight-bearing activity with therapist support. We describe 2 cases of gastrocnemius muscle tears that occurred during inpatient neurologic rehabilitation that may be attributed to forced use of the hemiplegic lower extremity. Each presented with s

Functional Syndromes in the Pediatric Population and Their Rehabilitation Management: Chronic Pain Syndrome and Functional Neurologic Disorder.

Pediatric chronic pain and functional neurologic disorders are frequently encountered causes of pediatric morbidity and disability. These medical conditions are complex, with multifactorial etiologies and presentations. Both have been found to benefit from biopsychosocial approaches in addition to common pharmacologic interventions. The diagnosis and exclusion of other processes is vital to quickly identify appropriate treatment plans. A multidisciplinary team consisting of physicians, therapists, psychologists, and caseworkers must work in conjunction with the family and patient to minimize d
