Longitudinal trajectories of sleep inertia among intern nurses with shift work in China: Prevalence, risk factors and outcomes.

There is a growing consensus regarding the significant individual differences in responses to sleep inertia. However, little is known about the longitudinal trajectories of sleep inertia. Therefore, we aimed to investigate the incidence rates of sleep inertia, longitudinal trajectories, influencing factors and outcomes among intern nurses with shift work. A total of 1079 intern nurses with shift work completed online surveys at 2 weeks (T1) and 16 weeks (T2) after their clinical internship, respectively. The demographics and willingness to continue working as nurses, circadian type, sleep prob

Muscle strength and fall rates among residents of Japanese and American nursing homes: an International Cross-Cultural Study.

OBJECTIVE: In Western society, aging if often associated with adoption of a sedentary lifestyle and associated disuse muscle atrophy and weakness. Recent studies suggest a relationship between quadriceps muscle weakness and falls in elderly residents of US nursing homes (NHs). We hypothesized that fall rates would be lower in Japanese NHs, where lifestyle differences such as squatting to toilet or sleeping on the floor may maintain quadriceps strength and result in fewer falls. Therefore, we examined the relationships between falls, muscle strength, lifestyle, and other clinical characteristic

AIM: This study aims to investigate the developmental trajectories of transition shock and job retention intentions among intern nursing students during their clinical placements. It will assess the interrelationships betwee

Association between artificial intelligence literacy and empathic behavior among nursing interns: adjustment for moral distress and moral resilience.

BACKGROUND: Artificial intelligence (AI) literacy is increasingly relevant in nursing education, yet its association with empathic behavior among nursing interns remains unclear. METHODS: This cross-sectional study included 300 nursing interns from three tertiary hospitals in China (December 2025-April 2026). AI literacy and empathic behavior were assessed using validated scales. Moral distress and moral resilience were included as covariates. Multivariable linear regression and restricted cubic spline analyses were performed, with subgroup analyses to assess robustness. RESULTS: Higher AI l

Flourishing profiles and associated factors among undergraduate nursing interns: A cross-sectional study using latent profile analysis.

BACKGROUND: As clinical nursing practice continues to evolve, undergraduate nursing interns face substantial psychological challenges during the transition from students to healthcare professionals. Flourishing, a key indicator of positive psychological functioning, encompasses positive emotion, engagement, relationships, meaning, accomplishment, and overall well-being. Despite growing interest in positive psychology within nursing education, the flourishing profiles of undergraduate nursing interns and the factors associated with these profiles remain insufficiently explored. AIM: This study

Healthcare professionals are increasingly exposed to these drugs and can be potentially contaminated by them. Internal contamination of professionals is a key concern for occupational physicians in the assessment and management of occupational risks in healthcare settings. Objectives of this study are to report AD internal contamination rate in nursing staff and to identify factors associated with internal contamination. METHODS AND ANALYSIS: This trial will be conducted in two French hospital ce

Maintaining bone health in patients with multiple myeloma: survivorship care plan of the International Myeloma Foundation Nurse Leadership Board.

About 90% of individuals with multiple myeloma will develop osteolytic bone lesions from increased osteoclastic and decreased osteoblastic activity. Severe morbidities from pathologic fractures and other skeletal events can lead to poor circulation, blood clots, muscle wasting, compromised performance status, and overall poor survival. Supportive care targeting bone disease is an essential adjunct to antimyeloma therapy. In addition, the maintenance of bone health in patients with multiple myeloma can significantly improve quality of life. Oncology nurses and other healthcare providers play a

Renal complications in multiple myeloma and related disorders: survivorship care plan of the International Myeloma Foundation Nurse Leadership Board.

Kidney dysfunction is a common clinical feature of symptomatic multiple myeloma. Some degree of renal insufficiency or renal failure is present at diagnosis or will occur during the course of the disease and, if not reversed, will adversely affect overall survival and quality of life. Chronic insults to the kidneys from other illnesses, treatment, or multiple myeloma itself can further damage renal function and increase the risk for additional complications, such as anemia. Patients with multiple myeloma who have light chain (Bence Jones protein) proteinuria may experience renal failure or pro

Survivorship care guidelines for patients living with multiple myeloma: consensus statements of the International Myeloma Foundation Nurse Leadership Board.

Novel therapies approved over the past decade for the management of multiple myeloma have contributed to improved overall survival in patients with newly diagnosed and relapsed disease. Nurses play a key role in educating, advocating for, and supporting patients throughout the continuum of care. Identifying potential and actual comorbid conditions associated directly with multiple myeloma and its treatment is important, as is confirming those that are patient specific so that prompt intervention can take place; therefore, the International Myeloma Foundation Nurse Leadership Board identified t

Nurses on the Frontlines of Collapse: Advocacy, Leadership, and HIV Care in the Wake of United States Agency for International Development's Withdrawal From Kenya, Malawi, and the Philippines.

The abrupt dissolution of United States Agency for International Development and the cessation of U.S. President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief funding have triggered a global health crisis, disproportionately affecting HIV services and frontline health systems across the Global South. This article explores how nurses are responding-not only by sustaining clinical care but by stepping into roles as policy advocates, organizers, and system innovators. Drawing from lived experiences in Kenya, Malawi, the Philippines, and beyond, we highlight the resilience, leadership, and moral clarity of nur

Putative buffering roles of two-way social support and psychological resilience in the association between nurse-patient conflict and situational emotional response: a cross-sectional correlational study among Chinese nursing interns.

BACKGROUND: Nurse-patient conflict acts as a common stressor for nursing interns during clinical training. Existing research fails to empirically verify the synergistic buffering pathways of two-way social support and psychological resilience on interns' situational emotional responses in Chinese clinical settings. This study aimed to describe interns' emotional response status under nurse-patient conflicts and explore relevant associated factors. METHODS: A cross-sectional correlational design was adopted. A total of 423 eligible nursing interns with conflict experience were recruited from s
