The associations of e-health perception and dementia knowledge with dementia public stigma in nursing students: A cross-sectional study.

BACKGROUND: Preparing nursing students for dementia care, a prevalent cause of mortality, disability, and dependency among older people, is essential. Positive perceptions of e-health are believed to be associated with better knowledge, attitude, and skills among nurses across various care contexts. However, the relationship between e-health perception and nursing students' dementia knowledge and stigma remains underexplored. AIM: To investigate the relationship between e-health perceptions, dementia knowledge, and dementia stigma among nursing students. SETTINGS AND PARTICIPANTS: A total of

The role of public health nurses in risk factor modification within a high-risk cardiovascular disease population in Ireland - a qualitative analysis.

BACKGROUND/AIMS: Health promotion for cardiovascular disease risk factors management is essential to secondary prevention of cardiovascular disease events. In Ireland, post-cardiac rehabilitation patients are discharged into the care of community public health nurses, who have a health promotion role. Little is known of the public health nurses' perceptions or knowledge surrounding their role in cardiovascular disease risk factor management. Underpinned by a constructivist viewpoint, this study aims to generate empirical evidence on the phenomenon directly from public health nurses' encounters

Nurses at the frontline of public health emergency preparedness and response: lessons learned from the HIV/AIDS pandemic and emerging infectious disease outbreaks.

The years 2020-21, designated by WHO as the International Year of the Nurse and Midwife, are characterised by unprecedented global efforts to contain and mitigate the COVID-19 pandemic. Lessons learned from successful pandemic response efforts in the past and present have implications for future efforts to leverage the global health-care workforce in response to outbreaks of emerging infectious diseases such as COVID-19. Given its scale, reach, and effectiveness, the response to the HIV/AIDS pandemic provides one such valuable example, particularly with respect to the pivotal, although largely

Effectiveness of home visitation by public-health nurses in prevention of the recurrence of child physical abuse and neglect: a randomised controlled trial.

BACKGROUND: Recurrence of child maltreatment is a major problem, yet little is known about approaches to reduce this risk in families referred to child protection agencies. Since home visitation by nurses for disadvantaged first-time mothers has proven effective in prevention of child abuse and neglect, we aimed to investigate whether this approach might reduce recidivism. METHODS: We enrolled in a randomised controlled trial 163 families with a history of one index child being exposed to physical abuse or neglect to compare standard treatment with a programme of home visitation by nurses in

Assessment of eye care practices and health belief model factors among adult intensive care unit nurses in public hospitals of Amhara Region, Ethiopia.

BACKGROUND: Eye care is a vital aspect of overall patient health, especially in intensive care units (ICUs) where patients face a heightened risk of ocular complications. Approximately 60% of patients with tracheal tubes and lagophthalmos develop severe ocular surface diseases, such as corneal abrasions, conjunctivitis, and exposure keratopathy, due to insufficient eye protection and lubrication. These complications can adversely affect patient outcomes, including increased mortality rates, extended hospital stays, and reduced satisfaction with care. Despite the importance of effective eye car

A G-CHAM program and policy development curriculum using simulated executive review in undergraduate public health nursing education.

BACKGROUND: Public health nurses in Japan commonly work in administrative settings and are expected to translate community health assessment findings into feasible programs and policies through organizational decision making, negotiation, and budgeting. However, undergraduate public health nursing education provides limited opportunities for students to experience this administrative program and policy development process. This study describes a G-CHAM program and policy development curriculum using simulated executive review and presents an initial assessment of changes in students' self asse

Clinical employment and nursing students' attitudes towards a humanoid social robot in geriatric care: implications for the public health workforce.

INTRODUCTION: Population ageing and workforce shortages are placing growing pressure on geriatric care systems, prompting interest in humanoid social robots (HSRs) as a potential support for older-adult care. Their successful introduction, however, depends substantially on acceptance by the nursing workforce that will deliver and oversee their use. Nursing students represent a strategically important population for public health workforce planning, since their openness to robotic technologies will shape how readily such tools are adopted in future practice. METHODS: We conducted a cross-secti

Phase-specific networks of job stress, anxiety and insomnia during acute crisis and chronic strain: A citywide study of public health nurses in Shanghai.

BACKGROUND: Psychological distress among public health nurses (PHNs) during major public health emergencies may vary across response phases, from acute crisis to prolonged chronic strain. Although the mental health consequences of sustained emergency response are well documented, evidence on how symptom connectivity patterns differ across acute and chronic phases remains limited. AIMS: This study aims to compare symptom centrality and connectivity patterns of job stress, anxiety and insomnia among PHNs during acute crisis and chronic strain and to identify phase-specific associations that may

Outreach mpox vaccination at sex-on-premises venues in Sydney: an audit of a collaborative intervention by public health nurses and LGBTQI+ peer workers.

INTRODUCTION AND AIMS: In 2024, in response to a re-surge in mpox transmission in New South Wales, Australia, Kirketon Road Centre (KRC) partnered with an HIV and LGBTQI+ community organisation, ACON, to conduct outreach vaccination in two sex-on-premises venues (SOPVs), also known as "saunas". SOPV attendees were approached by an ACON peer worker who offered health education and referral to on-site mpox vaccination (Jynneos®) by a registered nurse. We aim to describe the scope, the acceptability, and the outcomes of mpox vaccination outreach at SOPVs in Sydney, and compare characteristics of

"Cancer Prevention Is Typically My Top One": A Qualitative Study of Public Health Nurses' Experiences With and Perceptions of Human Papillomavirus (HPV) Vaccination in Montana.

CONTEXT: Human papillomavirus (HPV) is the most common sexually transmitted infection in the US. Despite the availability of safe and effective vaccination to prevent these infections, vaccination rates have remained suboptimal. To design effective evidence-based strategies, a robust understanding of the facilitators of HPV vaccination is needed. Despite the important role of public health departments in rural immunization services delivery, HPV vaccination practices in such settings have not been well described. OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to examine multilevel factors that influence HPV vac
