A one-step freeze-dried Sn-glucose kit was developed to be labelled with technetium-99m. TLC, paper chromatography and gel chromatography column scanning techniques (GCS) were used for the determination of the labelling yield of the complex. High radiochemical purity was obtained (98%). Studies of the anionic coordination complex 99Tc-oxo[N,N'-ethylene-bis(2-mercaptoacetimido)]technetate(V) ([TcO(ema)]-) are described. Poor lung development was first noted on scintigraphy using 99mTc-phytate in 32 children. They had all been referred for a hepatosplenic scan but the initial circulatory phase of the radiopharmaceutical was also recorded as a routine procedure. In 3 patients it revealed aplasia of an entire lung; bilateral pulmonary hypoplasia was observed in 14 of 16 patients with diaphragmatic herniae. We present a 34-year-old woman diagnosed with primary mucinous adenocarcinoma of the bladder, confirmed after transurethral resection. Two years postinitial diagnosis, despite chemotherapy, she developed pulmonary and skeletal metastases, leading to progressive symptoms including cough, hemoptysis and refractory bone pain. A 63-year-old man presented with transient global amnesia, urinary incontinence, and a visual field deficit. A 61-year-old man underwent a resection of tumor in the left tibia that caused osteomalacia 11 years ago. Postoperative bone pain and fatigue symptoms were briefly relieved but then recurred. OBJECTIVE: Technetium 99 m methoxyisobutylisonitrile (Tc-99m MIBI) scintigraphy represents the most commonly utilized imaging modality for the detection of the diseased gland in patients with primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT). In this study, we aimed to identify potential biological factors with an impact on MIBI sensitivity.
METHODS: A total of 147 patients with surgically confirmed parathyroid adenomas were assessed retrospectively. Data including medical history, biochemical and hormonal measurements, cervical US, Tc-99m MIBI scans as well as pathology reports were retrieved and recorded.

Most osteomalacia-causing tumors are small, benign mesenchymal neoplasms, which are commonly located in the extremities or craniofacial regions. An 18-year-old male patient with suspicion of tumor-induced osteomalacia underwent (99m)Tc-HYNIC-TOC scintigraphy to search potential culprit tumor. The images showed a large activity in the region of the left kidney. The lesion was resected and a clear cell renal cell carcinoma was found. One year after the left nephrectomy, the patient was tumor-free without symptoms of osteomalacia.

There are many spectrums in renal diseases which induce tubulointerstitial nephropathy (TIN). Primarily, the renal tubule and interstitium are involved but glomerular and vascular lesions are found in the chronic course of TIN. Renal scintigraphy is poor for evaluating characteristic aspects of tubular function of TIN but demonstrate individual renal function as a whole. Particularly, measurement of the 99m-Tc-DMSA renal uptake rate is useful for evaluating a functioning tubular mass.

Porcine insulin was labeled with 99mTc by direct tin reduction. More than 95% labeling efficiency was obtained on paper chromatography in saline and methyl ethyl ketone. The stability of the labeled compound was confirmed by paper chromatography at 3 h post-labeling and by human serum albumin (HSA) challenge. Captopril renography is an excellent technique for investigating renovascular hypertension and other renal disturbances. However, many variables affect the usefulness of renographic data. The choices of radiopharmaceutical, converting enzyme inhibitor, and the type of imaging done must be made with care. Additionally, the method for selecting a study population must be carefully examined. Incorrect choices can render a study's data valueless. In this paper we delineate the questions that need to be considered before undertaking a renographic study.

The case of a patient with giant lymph node hyperplasia of the mediastinum who unexpectedly showed focal uptake of technetium 99m hexakis-2-methoxyisobutylisonitrile (99mTc-MIBI) is presented in this article. The patient was included in our research programme of tumor imaging with 99mTc-MIBI because the appearance of the mass on the chest radiogram and CT scan resembled a mediastinal tumour. Final diagnosis of giant lymph node hyperplasia was achieved through histopathological examination of the surgically removed lymph node.

A case of nonvisualization of the gallbladder in an adult patient with cystic fibrosis in the absence of acute cholecystitis is reported. Delayed images to 20 hours showed persistent nonvisualization. Review of the literature on cystic fibrosis suggests that nonvisualization of the gallbladder may be secondary to inspissated mucus rather than acute cholecystitis, and therefore a positive hepatobiliary scan in these patients should be interpreted with caution.
