PURPOSE OF INVESTIGATION: The management of fetal ovarian cysts is still controversial despite the improvement in prenatal diagnosis with ultrasonography. Some studies suggest an aggressive management, while others opt for a conservative one. The prognosis of the majority of congenital ovarian cysts is good since they have a benign origin. Sometimes, however, complications such as torsion or rupture can occur which often require surgical intervention after delivery. The present study describes 29 women coincidentally found to have ovarian cysts while participating in a cross-sectional study. The prevalence of functional ovarian cysts is determined. In this study, 428 women, aged 14-45 years, were examined by transvaginal ultrasonography. The women were gynecologically healthy and were using either no contraception, intrauterine contraceptive devices, none of which were hormone releasing, or oral contraception (OC). The purpose was to determine the relation between functional ovary cysts (FOC) in patients with bilateral tubal occlusion (BTO) compared against a group of patients without the occlusion. Retrospective study, transversal and comparative in which 1,060 cases of patients that had pelvic ultrasounds were studied. 2 groups were formed: Group 1 with 356 patients with BTO, Group 2 without surgical sterilization history. In a retrospective study the histopathological findings of 127 laparoscopically operated unilocular anechoic smooth-walled ovarian cysts have been correlated with clinical characteristics (age, duration of observation, complaints, hormonal treatment), size by ultrasound, kind and colour of cysts content as well as cytological findings. The sonograms of 76 hemorrhagic ovarian cysts were reviewed to ascertain the full spectrum of sonographic findings. Ovarian teratoma is a rare cause of autoimmune hemolytic anemia (AIHA) by warm antibodies, resistant to corticosteroid therapy. This also implies that ovarian teratoma should be included in the differential diagnosis of AIHA, whether or not associated with pregnancy. We report a case of 48-year-old woman with multiple hydatid cysts in pararectal region and right paraovarian localization with an unusual sonographic and computed tomographic presentation mimicking a pelvic endometriosis. During laparotomy, multiple pararectal and right ovarian cysts resembling endometriosis were resected. Pathologic examination gives the diagnosis of hydatid cysts. Retrospectively, we investigate the primary infection but the patient had no history of hepatic and liver involvement, it is a case of primary infection.

Simple ovarian cysts are common. The aim of clinical management is to optimize the treatment of malignant and premalignant cysts while minimizing intervention for cysts likely to resolve spontaneously. METHODS: Charts of 81 patients who underwent laparoscopic removal of dermoid cysts since March 1988 at Stanford University Medical Center or the Center for Special Pelvic Surgery in Atlanta were reviewed retrospectively.
