A prospective study of colonic pathology with double contrast method was made of 146 patients sent to the X-ray department of the Black Lion Hospital, Addis Ababa. The barium enemata were done for complaints like constipation, diarrhoea, rectal bleeding and palpable abdominal mass often without any relevant prior physical clinical examinations. The study deals with HIV infection in children admitted to the "Phthisiopediatrics" Department of Braşov Hospital. They represent about 1% of the hospitalized cases (5 of 564). PURPOSE: The objective of this study was to investigate the prognostic significance of glandular dyskaryosis/AGUS, reported in Papanicolaou (Pap) smears.

This epidemiological transversal study conducted on 100 patients older than 65 years hospitalized in the Internal Medicine department of a University hospital demonstrates the frequency of psychiatric pathology in these patients: dementia 19 percent; other psycho-organic disorders 17 percent; affective disorders 23 percent and other psychological disturbances 4 percent. Thus, 63 percent of this patient population had a mental disorder as defined by the DSM III criteria. These disorders are generally not or imperfectly identified by the internists in charge of these patients.

Twenty cases of echinococcosis affecting the skeleton are reported. These cases were diagnosed at the Pathology Department of KAT General Hospital over a 12 year period (1976-1988). The parasitosis involved individual bones or skeletal parts (spine 6, pelvis 6, femur 4, tibia 1, scapula 2 and maxilla 1). The age of the patients ranged from 20-74 years (mean age: 52 years) with preponderance of men. The diagnostic and differential diagnostic problems as well as the therapy and prognosis of this infestation are discussed.
