Within the last 60 yr genetics of broilers have changed to produce rapid growing birds that achieve market weight in 6 wk or less. INTRODUCTION: Guidelines increasingly recommend the use of glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1 RA) or sodium-glucose co-transporter-2 inhibitors (SGLT2i) to prevent cardiovascular and cardiorenal endpoints.
