Polypodium leucotomos targets multiple aspects of oral carcinogenesis and it is a potential antitumor phytotherapy against tongue cancer growth.

Introduction: Oral cancer refers to malignant tumors, of which 90% are squamous cell carcinomas (OSCCs). These malignancies exhibit rapid progression, poor prognosis, and often mutilating therapeutical approaches. The determination of a prophylactic and/or therapeutic antitumor role of the polyphenolic extract Polypodium leucotomos(PL) would be relevant in developing new tools for prevention and treatment. Methods: We aimed to determine the antitumor effect of PL by treating OSCC cell lines with PL metabolites and evaluating its action during OSCC progression in vivo. Results: PL treatment suc

Immunomodulatory effects of new phytotherapy on human macrophages and TLR4- and TLR7/8-mediated viral-like inflammation in mice.

BACKGROUND: While all efforts have been undertaken to propagate the vaccination and develop remedies against SARS-CoV-2, no satisfactory management of this infection is available yet. Moreover, poor availability of any preventive and treatment measures of SARS-CoV-2 in economically disadvantageous communities aggravates the course of the pandemic. Here, we studied a new immunomodulatory phytotherapy (IP), an extract of blackberry, chamomile, garlic, cloves, and elderberry as a potential low-cost solution for these problems given the reported efficacy of herbal medicine during the previous SARS

Investigation Driven by Network Pharmacology on Potential Components and Mechanism of DGS, a Natural Vasoprotective Combination, for the Phytotherapy of Coronary Artery Disease.

Phytotherapy offers obvious advantages in the intervention of Coronary Artery Disease (CAD), but it is difficult to clarify the working mechanisms of the medicinal materials it uses. DGS is a natural vasoprotective combination that was screened out in our previous research, yet its potential components and mechanisms are unknown. Therefore, in this study, HPLC-MS and network pharmacology were employed to identify the active components and key signaling pathways of DGS. Transgenic zebrafish and HUVECs cell assays were used to evaluate the effectiveness of DGS. A total of 37 potentially active c

[Evidence-based medicine and phytotherapy for functional dyspepsia and irritable bowel syndrome: a systematic analysis of evidence for the herbal preparation Iberogast].

Functional gastrointestinal disorders like functional dyspepsia and irritable bowel syndrome are characterized by more or less specific symptoms and the absence of structural lesions to explain symptoms. Other studies suggest that abnormalities of specific gut function are linked to manifestation of symptoms. These abnormalities include disturbances of motility such as postprandial fundic relaxation, gastric emptying and disturbed visceral sensory function. The underlying pathophysiology is not fully understood. However, various studies point towards hereditary (or molecular) factors modified

GB5, a synergistic phytotherapy for type 2 diabetes mellitus management: an integrated polyherbal approach from phytochemical profiling to network pharmacology.

BACKGROUND: Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) remains a global health burden characterized by insulin resistance, persistent hyperglycaemia, and chronic inflammation. Although single-target therapies effectively reduce glucose levels, they seldom address oxidative stress or adipocyte dysfunction. Polyherbal formulations (PHFs) harness synergistic phytochemicals for multimodal intervention; however, many lack mechanistic transparency owing to excessive inclusion of diverse botanical bioactives, suffer from non-standardized composition, and underexplore volatile antidiabetic constituents. EIF4A3 targeted therapeutic intervention in glioblastoma multiforme using phytochemicals from Indian medicinal plants - an integration of phytotherapy into precision onco-medicine.

Glioblastoma Multiforme (GBM), an aggressive brain tumor (grade-IV astrocytoma), poses treatment challenges. Poor prognosis results from the rapid growth, highlighting the role of EIF4A3 in regulating non-coding RNAs. EIF4A3 promotes the expression of several non-coding RNAs, viz, Circ matrix metallopeptidase 9 (MMP9), a prominent oncogene, by interacting with the upstream region of the circMMP9 mRNA transcript and acts on cell proliferation, migration, and invasion of GBM. However, research shows that EIF4A3 knockdown inhibits glioblastoma progression and increases apoptosis. In this study, w
