PURPOSE: Congenital hypopituitarism is caused by mutations in pituitary transcription factors involved in the development of the hypothalamic-pituitary axis. Mutation frequencies of genes involved in congenital hypopituitarism are extremely low and vary substantially between ethnicities. Forty-six patients with GH-secreting pituitary tumours were treated with conventional external pituitary irradiation through two opposed fields to a total dose of 3750 cGy over 15 fractions. OBJECTIVE: To study the pituitary functional recovery of patients with pituitary adenoma surgery and to identify appropriate dosages of hormone replacement for those patients.

In this chapter, we have reviewed the fast-moving area of the molecular pathology of pituitary hormone deficiencies and resistance. Examples have been described affecting all levels of pituitary function, i.e. the releasing hormone, its receptor, the pituitary hormone and its receptor, and the development of the pituitary gland. To describe the hormone changes that occur at the onset of the perimenopause, daily urine and random blood samples were collected from 5 peri-menopausal women for 3 or 4 consecutive cycles.
