BACKGROUND: While a vast amount of research focuses on unmodifiable and individual factors that may impact return to work (RTW) for patients with traumatic brain injury (TBI), less knowledge exists of the relationship between specific workplace factors and work retention.
OBJECTIVE: Identify types of accommodation in the workplace that influence the RTW process for employees with TBI and the challenges associated with them.
METHODS: A multiple case study consisting of 38 cases and 109 interviews of employees with TBI and their managers conducted between 2017 and 2020 at two time points.

BACKGROUND: Return to work is potentially an important factor in assessing the success of treatment. However, little is known about the return to work after treatment for Dupuytren's contracture. Therefore, the primary aim of this study was to assess return to work after limited fasciectomy and percutaneous needle fasciotomy.
METHODS: Patients who underwent either a limited fasciectomy or percutaneous needle fasciotomy were invited to complete a return-to-work questionnaire at 6 weeks, 3 months, 6 months, and 12 months postoperatively. Median time to return to work was assessed using inverted

Total knee arthroplasty (TKA) is increasingly being performed among working patients suffering from knee osteoarthritis. Two out of ten patients do not return to work (RTW) after TKA. Little evidence is available about these patients to guide clinicians. Therefore, this study investigates patients' characteristics associated with no RTW. A multicenter retrospective cohort study was performed among working patients having undergone a primary TKA during 2005-2010. The following preoperative characteristics were assessed: age at surgery, sex, comorbidity, body mass index (BMI), preoperative sick-

BACKGROUND: For many working-age cancer survivors, return to work represents a quality-of-life indicator. However, there is currently a lack of resources to assist survivors with navigating this process.
PURPOSE: As a first step toward informing resources to address this gap, 10 female survivors' return-to-work experiences were explored.
METHOD: Photovoice methods were combined with interviews. Photographs and text were analyzed to identify key themes.
FINDINGS: Return to work was psychosocially motivated. Survivors independently decided if they would take leave and, if so, when they would

The aim of this study was to assess the influence of medical and socioprofessional factors on return to work after myocardial infarction. The authors studied a continuous series of 174 patients with an average age of 51.3 years, all of whom were active before their illness. The average follow-up period was 33 months. One hundred and thirty of the patients (75%) returned to work. The only clinical factors predictive of not returning to work were older age short exercise time and fall in blood pressure on exercise. On the other hand, nearly all socioprofessional factors, social class, type of oc

BACKGROUND: Concussion, or mild uncomplicated traumatic brain injury (mTBI), is a common condition that can occur in sports, motor vehicle accidents, falls, assaults/violence and occupational settings. While symptom resolution is usually expected within 2-4 weeks, a minority of patients (up to 30%) experience persistent post-concussion symptoms (PPCS) that impact cognitive, physical and emotional functioning. These prolonged symptoms can interfere with a patient's ability to return to school or work, creating uncertainty for patients, employers and treating practitioners.
OBJECTIVE: This arti

BACKGROUND AND INTRODUCTION: The duration of inability for work according to work load and the rate of successful return to work after open and arthroscopic Bankart repair (BR) due to anterior shoulder dislocation has not yet been examined with regard to validated work strain by the REFA classification. Thus, the objective of this study was to determine the duration of inability to work according to work load (REFA criteria) after open and arthroscopic BR as well as the rate of successful return to the original occupation.

Background: Returning to and sustaining employment after cancer presents significant challenges for individuals touched by cancer (ITBC). While vocational rehabilitation and workplace accommodations are critical, existing return to work (RTW) assessments lack cancer-specific considerations, limiting their clinical and occupational utility. Purpose: This study aimed to develop and validate the Cancer and Work Scale (CAWSE), a psychometrically robust tool designed to assess RTW likelihood and employment sustainability among ITBC, while also providing avenues for targeted interventions. Methods:

When we need a bone block, a well-performed open or arthroscopic Latarjet procedure is a powerful tool. The Latarjet remains the current gold standard for surgical treatment of large anterior glenoid defects, and it is projected that performance of Latarjet will continue to increase in the United States while Bankart repair declines. What patients want to know is, "When can I expect to return to work or sport after Latarjet?" Return to work is dictated by occupation. Recent research shows that time to return to work can range from 2 to 8 months, and 89% to 100% of patients eventually return to
