Alveolar soft part sarcoma (ASPS) constitutes a rare soft tissue malignant neoplasm comprising less than 1 % of all soft tissue sarcomas. ASPS demonstrates a strong predilection for adolescents and young adults, with a female predominance reported. The head and neck region is the most commonly affected region in pediatric patients with the tongue and orbit affected most commonly. Herein we present the clinical, radiographic, histopathologic, immunohistochemical and molecular features of two examples of ASPS affecting the oral cavity of 4 and 13 year-old boys, along with a focused review of the

Nine alveolar soft-part sarcomas of the female genital tract (four previously reported) occurred in patients 14-38 (mean 29) years of age. The most common clinical presentation was abnormal uterine bleeding. Two tumors were located in the vagina, three in the cervix or lower uterine segment, three in the uterine corpus, and one in the broad ligament. The tumors were solid and well circumscribed, ranging in maximum dimension from 1 to 9.8 (average 3.6) cm and had the characteristic histologic features of alveolar soft-part sarcoma. Granules that were diastase resistant and positive by periodic

BACKGROUND: Certain histologic subtypes of advanced soft tissue sarcomas, including alveolar soft part sarcoma (ASPS) and undifferentiated pleomorphic sarcoma (UPS), lack standardized therapeutic options following anthracycline-based first-line therapy. This study was to investigate the efficacy and safety of camrelizumab plus apatinib in advanced unresectable ASPS or UPS.
METHODS: In this single-center, exploratory case series, patients with ASPS or UPS received a combination of camrelizumab and apatinib. The primary endpoint was the objective response rate (ORR), while the exploratory endpo

BACKGROUND: Alveolar soft part sarcoma (ASPS) is a rare sarcoma that has been shown to be highly effective to antiangiogenic agents and immune checkpoint inhibitors, but most reported studies about ASPS were concentrated on adult population. In this study, we aimed to describe the clinical features and therapeutic outcomes of ASPS in children.
METHODS: We retrospectively reviewed the records of patients with ASPS in our institution since Jan 2015. All patients included in this study were pathologically confirmed ASPS and aged under 12 years at the time of initial diagnosis. Demographic charac

BACKGROUND: Primary uterine alveolar soft part sarcoma (ASPS) is a rare, indolent mesenchymal malignancy with less than 40 patients documented in the literature.
CASE: We report an example of ASPS in a 61-year-old postmenopausal woman. Macroscopically, the uterus showed multiple nodular masses. Microscopic examination revealed tumor arranged in nests and alveolar pattern. The tumor cells were moderately to markedly pleomorphic, epithelioid to polygonal, with eccentrically placed nuclei, vesicular chromatin, prominent macro-nucleoli, and moderate to abundant eosinophilic cytoplasm. RATIONALE: Alveolar soft part sarcoma (ASPS) is a rare, malignant neoplasm, which mostly occurs in the upper and lower extremities. This article presents an unusual case of ASPS involving the penis of a 3-year-old boy. To our knowledge, this is the first case of ASPS in the penis of a child.
PATIENT CONCERNS: The patient complained of slight penile pain for 1 year and a soft tissue mass could be palpated in his penis.
DIAGNOSES: Imaging was performed on the penis. The pathological feature of the mass was evaluated through biopsy examination. It was found that the mass was an alveolar soft ti

Metastases to the breast are uncommon, accounting for 0.5% of breast tumors, and most of them are originated from lymphoma, melanoma and carcinomas of various organs. Alveolar soft part sarcoma (ASPS) is a very rare neoplasm that is usually found in the lower extremities. Lungs are the common site of dissemination and may represent initial manifestation of disease. We report a clinically unsuspected case of ASPS presenting as a breast metastasis in a 25-year-old woman. The patient's medical history was notable for a thyroid cancer treated by surgery and radioiodine ablation 2 years ago. Core n

BACKGROUND: Alveolar soft part sarcoma (ASPS) is a rare form of soft tissue sarcoma. Brain metastases have been reported to be a common feature of Stage IV ASPS, and recent practice guidelines recommend routine intracranial imaging as part of the staging evaluation in all patients who present with ASPS.
METHODS: The authors performed a comprehensive retrospective review of the clinical presentation, treatment, outcome, and patterns of failure in a consecutive series of patients with localized (American Joint Committee on Cancer [AJCC] Stages II/III) or metastatic (AJCC Stage IV) ASPS who pres

AIMS: Occurrence of alveolar soft part sarcoma (ASPS) in the female genital tract is extremely rare. We report 26 cases of ASPS arising in the female genital tract to further characterize its clinicopathological and molecular features, differential diagnosis and biological behaviour.
METHODS AND RESULTS: Twenty-six cases of ASPS in the female genital tract were retrieved from our pathology archives. Patient age ranged from 11 to 69 years (median = 30 years). Tumours involved the uterus (n = 22), vagina (n = 3), and broad ligament (n = 1), with a median size of 3.3 cm (1.5-8.5 cm). Histologica

OBJECTIVES: Alveolar soft part sarcoma is a rare subset of soft tissue sarcomas, typically presenting in subjects 15 to 35 years of age. Usual presentation sites are the trunk, extremities, and the head and neck. Subjects younger than 5 years are rarely affected.
METHODS: In this retrospective case report, we present a 16-month old male with a rapidly growing soft tissue mass of the anterior and posterior tongue, found to be alveolar soft part sarcoma.
RESULTS: The subject was treated with primary surgical resection and the resulting defect was reconstructed with a radial forearm free flap.

Primary acinar soft part sarcoma of the lung (ASPS) is a rare malignancy with unique cellular structure and clinical and genetic characteristics. Most patients do not exhibit clear clinical symptoms, with only a few developing respiratory symptoms. The typical histological characteristics are acinoid or organ-like structures. Immunofluorescence in situ hybridization suggests a rearrangement of the transcription factor E3 gene. Patients respond poorly to chemotherapy and are, thus, primarily treated with surgery and targeted therapy. We report herein a unique case of primary alveolar soft part

Background: Evidence suggests that advanced or metastatic alveolar soft part sarcoma (ASPS) with high metastatic potential is chemo-resistant. However, the benefits of tyrosine kinase inhibitors have been demonstrated for the treatment of ASPS. Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the efficacy and safety of apatinib, aspecific VEGFR-2 inhibitor, in ASPS patients. This retrospective analysis involved six patients with metastatic ASPS not amenable to curative treatment. Patients and methods: Apatinib was administered at a dose of 500mg per day. Tumor responses were assessed according to the

We report a case of bladder alveolar soft part sarcoma in an 18-year-old Thai male patient who had been treated with testicular radiation and systemic chemotherapy for acute lymphoblastic leukemia with testicular relapse. He presented with recurrent dysuria and gross hematuria. Cystoscopy revealed a 2-centimeter irregular sessile mass at the bladder base adjacent to left ureteral orifice. Transurethral resection of the tumor was performed. The histopathological diagnosis was alveolar soft part sarcoma. Chest and abdominal computed tomography showed no evidence of metastasis. He was treated wit

Alveolar soft part sarcoma (ASPS) is an exceptionally rare non-rhabdomyosarcomatous soft tissue sarcoma (NRSTS), characterized by the translocation t(X;17) p(11.2;q25). This translocation results in the chimeric ASPSCR1-TFE3 transcription factor which drives tumorigenesis. Complete surgical resection is crucial in allowing a successful outcome in these cases. Here, we describe an 11-month-old female infant who presented with a well-circumscribed lesion of the tongue, with the clinical and radiologic appearances of an infantile hemangioma. This led to an initial plan for surveillance management

Alveolar soft part sarcoma (ASPS) is an ultra-rare, highly angiogenic sarcoma with limited responsiveness to chemotherapy. Tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) such as sunitinib and pazopanib have shown promising activity, but comparative real-world data remain scarce. This multicenter, retrospective study included 51 patients with metastatic ASPS treated with sunitinib and/or pazopanib between January 2013 and March 2025. Progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) were analyzed using Kaplan-Meier methods, and prognostic factors were assessed via Cox regression. First-line TKI ther

Alveolar soft-part sarcoma (ASPS) is a rare soft tissue tumor with a broad morphologic differential diagnosis. While histology and immunohistochemistry can be suggestive, diagnosis often requires exclusion of other entities followed by confirmatory molecular analysis for its characteristic ASPSCR1-TFE3 fusion. Current stain-based biomarkers (such as immunohistochemistry for cathepsin K and TFE3) show relatively high sensitivity but may lack specificity, often showing staining in multiple other entities under diagnostic consideration. Given the discovery of RNA in situ hybridization (RNA-ISH) f

OBJECTIVE: Female genital alveolar soft part sarcoma (ASPS) is rare and has a favourable prognosis compared to ASPS from other sites. We reported our experience to manage a case with uterine corpus ASPS (UC ASPS) and conducted a literature review on prognosis of ASPS from different sites of female genital tract.
CASE REPORT: This report represented a 33-year-old woman who had UC ASPS. She received tumor excision with uterine preservation and had the longest follow-up time (155 months) without recurrence in the literature.
CONCLUSION: UC ASPS has better prognosis than ASPS from the uterine ce

INTRODUCTION: Alveolar soft part sarcoma (ASPS) of the uterine cervix is a rare mesenchymal malignancy that occurs in adolescents and young adults.
CASE REPORT: A 52-year-old postmenopausal woman presented with profuse vaginal bleeding of one month's duration with severe anemia. The pelvic examination revealed a 3 cm mass on the posterior lip of the uterine cervix. On magnetic resonance imaging, the tumor had high signal intensity on T1- and T2-weighted images. A modified radical hysterectomy and bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy were performed. Immunohistochemical staining for TFE3 and electro

BACKGROUND: Alveolar soft part sarcoma (ASPS) is an extremely rare soft tissue sarcoma, accounting for less than 1% of all soft tissue sarcomas. Approximately 5%-10% of ASPS cases occur in children and adolescents. Despite its indolent local course, its high metastatic potential necessitates comprehensive, multidisciplinary management.
CASE PRESENTATION: We present a pediatric patient diagnosed with metastatic ASPS originating from the left thigh. Initial management included wide local excision and adjuvant radiotherapy. Immunohistochemistry demonstrated strong nuclear TFE3 positivity, suppor
