Marfan syndrome (MS) is the most common dominant autosomic genetic disorder of the connective tissue. OBJECTIVES: Ableism is a system of beliefs, norms and practices that privileges non-disabled bodies and minds while devaluing and disadvantaging disabled people. Disabled people experience persistent oral health inequalities, yet dentistry has largely framed disability as an individual clinical challenge rather than a structural question. In this critical commentary, we apply a structural ableism framework to dentistry and examine how dental education, research, policy and service delivery reproduce normative assumptions about bodies, communication, behaviour and eligibility for care.

Dental caries is a disease that recently has undergone, and may still be undergoing, dramatic changes in distribution of incidence and prevalence. The most recent epidemiologic data available have been reviewed in this paper to illustrate that caries is becoming a disease primarily of pits and fissures, with less differentiation than previously acknowledged between fluoridated and fluoride-deficient areas. Professor Noemi Wigdorowicz-Makowerowa was born in Warsaw to a Polish Jewish family on November 24, 1912. During a 13-year period, 3256 specimens clinically diagnosed as leukoplakia (('keratosis," "white patch") were submitted to the oral pathology laboratories of Indiana University School of Dentistry and Emory University School of Dentistry. Mucoceles are mucous cysts related to obstruction or trauma of the minor salivary glands. The mucoceles may be lined by epithelium (mucous retention cyst) or covered by granulation tissue (extravasation cyst).
