A 70-year-old man presented with 2 years history of a painless hard mass in the left scrotum. Both pelvic computed tomography and magnetic resonance image showed enhancement only in the wall of the tumor, indicating a benign disease, rather than a neoplastic lesion. A 29-year-old man had been operated on for bilateral cryptorchism at the age of 11. The right testis was not found and was considered to be aplastic. The left testis was placed surgically in the scrotum. When he entered a follow-up study for early detection of testicular cancer, the right testis was found intraperitoneally and was removed. A left testicular biopsy showed carcinoma in situ and orchiectomy was performed. This testis contained an invasive seminoma.

Seminomas are malignant germ cell tumors originating from residual germ cells during embryonic development. About 1% of seminomas typically present outside the gonads, often around the body midline such as the retroperitoneum and mediastinum. This article describes the imaging manifestations of primary retroperitoneal seminomas, providing a basis for clinical diagnosis.

A 66-year-old man with vomiting and weight loss was referred to our hospital. Abdominal computed tomography showed small bowel obstruction caused by a presumed small intestinal tumor. Single-balloon endoscopy showed an ulcerated tumor and marked stenosis of the jejunum. Immunohistochemical staining suggested the tumor to be poorly differentiated or undifferentiated carcinoma. Sarcoidosis is a multisystem disorder characterised by non-caseating granulomas that typically affect the lungs, skin and lymph nodes. Sarcoidosis has been associated with various cancers, and we describe the case of a patient with systemic sarcoidosis associated with testicular seminoma. PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to report our findings on a patient with cancer-associated retinopathy who had seminoma.
METHODS: A 43-year-old man, who had been diagnosed with Stage 1 seminoma, complained of blurred vision. Fundus examination revealed attenuated retinal arteries, mild optic disk pallor, and a thinning of the outer nuclear layer. Ring scotomas were found in the visual fields of both eyes. BACKGROUND: A previously healthy 51-year-old man with two children sustained a minor testicular trauma and subsequently sought medical care for persistent discomfort.

We report the clinical, radiographic and pathological findings of polyorchidism and a right-sided abdominal seminoma found in a 28-year-old man who presented with cryptorchidism in childhood and who later underwent an orchiectomy for a left-sided seminoma. Pathological analysis of the abdominal tumour revealed the existence of a classic seminoma bordered by a rim of non-tumour tissue and remnants of epididymis. We propose that patients who present with cryptorchidism be assessed for polyorchidism as this might be the source of additional primary tumours.

Complete androgen insensitivity is a rare X-linked disorder characterised by a female phenotype in a chromosomally male individual. It usually presents at puberty with primary amenorrhoea or as an inguinal mass in a female infant. Treatment includes bilateral orchidectomy and hormone replacement therapy. About 80% of men with seminomatous testicular germ-cell cancer are diagnosed with stage I disease. For many years, the standard treatment for this patient group has been radiation to para-aortic and iliacal lymph nodes at the same side as the orchiectomy. Our patient had neglected a growing left testicular mass over a 5-year period. Due to the large size of the tumor a scrotal delivery was necessary. Pathology showed a 1.6 kg pure classic seminoma. Metastatic work up revealed stage IIC disease and he was treated with primary cisplatin-based chemotherapy and remains free of recurrence after 24 months. The potential risk of scrotal violation is discussed.
