The concentrations of cadmium (Cd), lead (Pb), arsenic (As), selenium (Se) and mercury (Hg) in the kidney, liver, brain and muscle of 20 individuals of cetaceans, stranded along the Asturias coastline between 2018 and 2020, have been studied. Artificial insemination (AI) with liquid-stored spermatozoa and sperm cryopreservation using directional freezing (DF) have been successful in the beluga. This study built on this foundation to develop a deep intra-uterine AI technique with frozen-thawed semen in beluga. This study investigates the occurrence of anisakids and raphidascarids in commercial fish from Balearic Sea (Western Mediterranean). A total of 335 fish including 19 black anglerfish (Lophius budegassa), 33 white anglerfish (L. piscatorius), 129 European hake (Merluccius merluccius), 30 red mullet (Mullus barbatus), and 124 striped mullet (M. surmuletus) were examined using enzymatic digestion. The dynamics of the cyanide anion bound to sperm-whale myoglobin is investigated using atomistic simulations. With density-functional theory, a 2D potential energy surface for the cyanide-heme complex is calculated. Two deep minima with a stabilization energy of approximately 50 kcal/mol corresponding to two different binding orientations (Fe-CN and Fe-NC) of the ligand are found. A general approach for the prediction of EPR spectra directly and completely from single dynamical trajectories generated from Molecular Dynamics (MD) simulations is described.
