Intraperitoneal laparoscopic single-site lymph node dissection in modified supine position during laparoscopic radical nephroureterectomy.

Technique modifications that aim to improve ergonomics of the surgical procedure without repositioning the upper tract urothelial carcinoma patients remain a challenge to urologists. We offer a novel technique to perform intraperitoneal laparoscopic single-site radical nephroureterectomy and pelvic lymph nodes dissection/retroperitoneal lymph nodes dissection in a supine position. Our novel technique is feasible and offers a significant improvement in operative efficiency, particularly in patients with locally advanced disease.

A New Safe and Ergonomic Manipulation Tool for the Flank-Free Supine Position: "U-Pad".

Introduction: One of the most important problems in the supine percutaneous approach to the kidney is the narrow surgical surface area (SSA) in the lumbar region. Herein, the spatial and angular geometric advantages of the U-shaped lumbar pad (U-Pad) used as a new positioning tool for safety and ergonomics in the supine percutaneous approach have been revealed. Materials and Methods: Data of patients who underwent endoscopic combined intrarenal surgery (ECIRS) using the U-Pad for kidney stones between March and September 2021 were prospectively collected. The demographic, preoperative, operati

Direct coronal computed tomography of the lumbar spine: a new technical approach in supine position.

Computed tomography (CT) was carried out on 46 subjects with L5-S1 disk hernia. All the patients had a L5-S1 angle equal or greater than 40 degrees. Coronal sections of the disk were obtained with a rostral angulation of the gantry, having placed the lumbar spine in a hyperlordotic position. Results are discussed and compared with those obtained from para-axial transverse sections and multidirectional reformated images.

Unloading reaction to electrical stimulation at neutral and supinated ankle positions.

An unloading reaction has been characterized as a modified flexor reflex (FR), in which the standing subjects decrease the load on the stimulated foot and increase the load on the contralateral side, but, without withdrawal of the stimulated foot. Different behavioral circumstances have been shown to modulate this reflex. It is not known whether unloading reactions can be modulated with a loaded supinated ankle position, which, in excess, may result in an ankle sprain injury. Since ankle sprain depends on the load applied to a supinated foot, our premise is that unloading reactions may protect

MR imaging of the female pelvic floor in the supine and upright positions.

The goal of this study was to determine whether a .5-T open configuration magnet system could be used to evaluate the female pelvic floor support structures and their functional changes in the upright and supine positions. We evaluated five normal volunteers with full bladders in the supine and sitting positions. Multiple measurements were obtained, including distance between symphysis and urethra, bladder neck to fixed pubococcygeal line, and posterior urethrovesical angle. The pelvic floor was evaluated for integrity of the urethra, vagina, and supporting ligaments. High quality, interpretab

Intravertebral vacuum cleft: changes in content after supine positioning.

Sequential radiographic and magnetic resonance (MR) imaging examinations were performed in nine patients with an intravertebral vacuum cleft indicative of avascular necrosis. Progressive changes in the content of the cleft occurred within an hour after the patients were placed in a supine position. Initially, the cleft showed a gaslike pattern during extension of the spine, with a radiolucent band on radiographs and a signal void on MR images. Later, the vacuum phenomenon disappeared on radiographs, and a fluidlike high-signal-intensity pattern appeared on T2- or T2*-weighted MR images, sugges

[Continuously alternating prone and supine positioning in acute lung failure].

Acute respiratory failure is still one the main problems in surgical intensive care. Unknown pathophysiological mechanisms permit only symptomatic therapy. Today ventilatory strategies by using PEEP und IRV are established to improve gas exchange and FRC by recruiting collapsed alveoli, decreasing intrapulmonary shunting and returning V/Q matching to normal. Furthermore different studies have shown the effects of supine and lateral decubitus posture in patients with acute respiratory failure. There are only rare reports on using the prone position, which doesn't require two-lung ventilation in

Efficacy and Safety of Angiography-Guided Retrograde Posterior Popliteal Puncture Technique in the Supine Position.

BACKGROUND: Various techniques are needed for successful treatment of femoropopliteal long chronic total occlusion (CTO). Previous reports have described popliteal puncture by duplex echo guidance, but the safety of angiography-guided popliteal puncture remains unclear. This study was performed to examine the efficacy and safety of angiography-guided retrograde posterior popliteal puncture in the supine position. METHODS: We analyzed 44 consecutive patients treated with retrograde femoropopliteal puncture for femoropopliteal CTO from October 2013 to February 2019. We compared 24 patients who
