Endocrine mucin-producing sweat gland carcinoma of the cheek.

Endocrine mucin-producing sweat gland carcinoma (EMPSGC) is a low-grade adnexal malignant neoplasm. We report a 90-year-old man who had a hard, dome-shaped tumor approximately 9 mm in diameter on the left cheek. Dermoscopy showed an overall, non-uniformly light-pink tumor with crust. The diagnosis of EMPSGC is made histologically from excisional biopsy. No signs of recurrent disease were evident at 42 months postoperatively.

Chondroid Syringoma.

UNLABELLED: Chondroid syringoma is a cutaneous sweat gland tumor. Despite its relative rarity, a benign and malignant variant have been described. We present a case report of chondroid syringoma of the foot in a healthy patient. Definitive diagnosis required histopathologic examination, while treatment included wide resection. Surgeons who are presented with a painless, solid nodule in the lower extremities should be cognizant of this neoplasm. LEVELS OF EVIDENCE: Therapeutic, Level IV: Case report.

Malignant eccrine spiradenoma of the external ear.

Eccrine spiradenoma is a benign tumor of sweat gland origin. Malignant eccrine spiradenoma is a rare neoplasm which almost always arises from a pre-existing spiradenoma lesion. In this article, we present a patient with malignant eccrine spiradenoma of the auricula with a prior diagnosis as benign eccrine spiradenoma. Although malignant transformation is usually associated with aggressive behavior, we did not detect recurrence or metastasis in four years of follow-up after performing wide excision.

Primary mucinous carcinoma of the periocular region: successful management with local resections over 30 years.

Primary mucinous carcinoma of the skin is a rare malignant neoplasm, often with periocular involvement, believed to originate from eccrine sweat glands. It is slow growing and locally destructive, at times forming tumour satellites. We present a case with six local recurrences treated with surgical resections over a period of 30 years. We have not been able to find longer follow-up in the literature, and believe this case may offer insight into the management of these uniquely indolent malignancies.

An uncommon perianal nodule: hidradenoma papilliferum.

Hidradenoma papilliferum is a rare, benign, cystic, papillary apocrine gland tumor that occurs almost exclusively in women in the skin of the anogenital region. We present the case of a 66 year old woman who presented with a progressively enlarging perianal nodule. We provide a review of the literature emphasizing the clinico-pathological characteristics and differential diagnosis. Local excision is necessary for identification and cure. No recurrence was observed after one year follow-up.

Immunohistochemical differentiation of four benign eccrine tumors.

BACKGROUND: The histogenesis and differentiation of eccrine tumors, including cylindroma, poroma, spiradenoma and syringoma, remains controversial. This controversy may be because of sporadic and incomplete studies of these neoplasms. METHODS: Ten examples each of normal eccrine structures and of four benign eccrine tumors are analyzed with antibodies to cytokeratin (CK) 7, CD34, CK6, CK10, smooth muscle actin (SMA) and CD10. These markers represent two different immunohistochemical stains for each part of the eccrine structure; CK7 and CD34 stain the secretory coil, CK6 and CK10 stain the st

Adenocarcinoma of mammary-like glands of the vulva: Report of a case and review of the literature.

Mammary-like glands are a poorly recognized structure of normal vulvar skin. Adenocarcinomas arising from these glands are rare and represent a distinct clinicopathologic entity that must be distinguished from metastatic tumors. We reviewed 19 cases reported in the literature and describe a 51-year-old patient with a long-standing nodule on her right interlabial sulcus. Excisional biopsy and Mohs micrographic surgery demonstrated an infiltrating adenocarcinoma of the mammary-like glands involving the dermis and subcutis. On review of all 20 cases, the mean age at diagnosis was 59.6 years, the

Pediatric segmental eccrine spiradenomas: a case report and review of the literature.

Eccrine spiradenoma is a rare benign adnexal tumor that usually occurs as a solitary nodule, although there are reports of multiple eccrine spiradenomas occurring in a segmental, linear, blaschkoid, or zosteriform pattern. Segmental eccrine spiradenomas have rarely been reported with onset occurring in childhood or adolescence. We describe a case of segmental eccrine spiradenomas occurring on the neck and mandible of a child.

Agminated syringocystadenoma papilliferum: a new clinical presentation of a rare benign adnexal neoplasm.

Syringocystadenoma papilliferum is a rare adnexal tumor that often occurs as a solitary tumor in the head and neck region, although occurrences on other anatomical locations have been described. Linear configurations have been described, but an agminated form is a more rare and underreported variant of this tumor. We describe a case of a healthy 10-year old female with agminated syringocystadenoma papilliferum occurring on her left supraclavicular region, with the clinical appearance of grouped molluscum contagiosum papules.Case synopsis A healthy 10-year-old girl was referred for the treatmen

Giant vascular eccrine spiradenoma.

A 60-year-old man suffering from cardiac insufficiency consulted the Dermatology Department, Inönü University Turgut Ozal Medical Center, because of a bleeding tumor on his right hypochondrium. The tumor had begun as a small nodule approximately 5 years before, and had grown slowly with time. A small, superficial ulcer had appeared on the lesion approximately 6 months previously, and slight bleeding had occasionally occurred. The patient had no pain and no other complaint except bleeding. Dermatologic examination revealed a violaceous, ulcerated, and bleeding tumoral lesion below the mid-porti

Nodular hidradenocarcinoma over the parotid gland: a pathologic presentation.

BACKGROUND: Nodular hidradenocarcinoma (NHAC), an eccrine carcinoma, has been reported in the dermatology and pathology literature, but few references have been made in the otolaryngology literature even though the head and neck is a common site of occurrence. METHODS: A case report of a 37-year-old Hispanic man with a right-sided neck mass diagnosed preoperatively as a parotid mass by imaging and fine-needle aspiration is presented. After presentation at our multidisciplinary tumor board, excision of the mass was undertaken. RESULTS: Final pathology revealed a NHAC, which is presented in ou

Genital syringocystadenocarcinoma papilliferum: An unusual location and review of the literature.

Syringocystadenocarcinoma papilliferum (SCACP) is an extremely rare adnexal neoplasm of the sweat glands. It is believed to arise from the malignant transformation of syringocystadenoma papilliferum (SCAP). The majority of cases present on the head and neck and up to 17% of cases show metastatic progression. These tumors seldom occur in the anogenital area and, to date, only one case has been reported on the penis. Here, we report a rare case of SCACP in a 65-year-old man who presented with an erythematous, non-healing, ulcerated lesion on the penis.

Primary mucinous carcinoma of the skin arising from the upper eyelid: A case report and literature review.

Primary mucinous carcinoma of the skin (PMCS) is a rare malignant neoplasm of the sweat glands that has an incidence of 1 per 150,000 population. Because of the lack of typical characteristics, it is often misdiagnosed as an epidermoid cyst, pilomatrixoma, or chalazion before resection, with subsequent enucleation performed unintentionally. We present a case of a 51-year-old patient with PMCS in the upper eyelid that was successfully treated at our hospital. Additionally, we reviewed the literature and discussed the diagnosis, primary and adjuvant therapy, and follow-up procedure.

Pigmented eccrine poroma: report of an atypical case with the use of dermoscopy.

Poromas are uncommon benign neoplasms originating from the terminal ductal portion of the sweat glands, mainly characterized by skin-colored or pink papules or nodules, usually on the extremities. Due to their rarity, the pigmented form clinical hypothesis is hardly ever suggested and psychopathology is fundamental. We report a case of pigmented eccrine poroma in the right palmer area, a location considered atypical. We stress the importance of dermoscopy as a method for diagnosis of poromas, especially in the differential diagnosis with other pigmented nodular-popular lesions.

[Hidradenocarcinoma of the Scrotum with Lymph Node Metastasis].

Hidradenocarcinoma is a rare neoplasm of the eccrine cells of the sweat glands, usually asymptomatic with slow growing and higher incidence between 50 and 80 years, occurring in both sexes and preferentially located in the palmar, plantar, frontal, axillary and nuchal regions. It has an aggressive behavior, with high rate of local recurrence and distance metastasis, associated with a poor prognosis. We present a case of hidradenocarcinoma of the scrotum manifested by lymph node metastasis through an exercise of clinical and histological differential diagnosis of an inguinal adenopathy in a you
