Nasal supernumerary teeth and additional dental cyst is a common disease in Department of ENT and Department of Stomatology. In reported diseases, patients with a variety of additional teeth appeared in differ ent parts have varied clinical manifestations. Because of no obvious early symptoms, it is more difficult to diagnose, but CT examination in corresponding site can make it easy to diagnose the maxillary sinus and dentigerous cyst diagnosis. Operation is an effective method to cure the disease. Operation is simple, but the defect and tooth cavity after operation is one unavoidable problem

PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to determine if cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) is more effective than traditional radiography (TR) in diagnosing pediatric dental clinical cases involving impacted and supernumerary teeth.
METHODS: Surveys were given to 10 pediatric dental faculty and 10 pediatric dental residents after viewing 8 clinical cases in either CBCT or TR in which the patient presented with pathology (impaction or supernumerary) in the anterior maxilla. The surveys asked for pathology diagnosis, location, and identification of root resorption, as well as questions about t

AIM: This was to assess the predictability of eruption of delayed permanent incisors after supernumerary removal and creation of adequate space, in relation to: root maturity, degree of vertical impaction, and degree of angulation of impaction.
METHODS: The dental records of children with supernumerary teeth delaying the eruption of permanent incisors were analysed. The type of a supernumerary tooth, its location and position were recorded, along with the stage of root maturation, angulation and vertical distance of impaction of the permanent incisor. At the initial surgery, the unerupted sup

The aim of this study was to elucidate whether a premaxilla with a supernumerary tooth has additional dental abnormalities. The study does not include premaxillas with a mesiodens, only premaxillas with parasagittally located supernumerary teeth. Radiographs from eight children, followed from 1 year and 5 months to 11 years and 5 months in the municipal dental health service in Denmark, were analyzed. One patient was seen only once. Dental abnormalities recorded included: invaginations on permanent incisors, resorption of roots of incisors, curved roots of incisors, delayed eruption, and delay

Dentigerous cysts are the second most common odontogenic cysts, typically forming around the crowns of impacted teeth. Their association with supernumerary teeth is rare. This report presents the successful surgical management of an unusually large dentigerous cyst linked to an impacted supernumerary tooth in the right maxilla.

The present study explored the trueness of active robotic system-assisted cortical-window osteotomy and tooth sectioning relative to conventional freehand surgery, employing a labial approach to remove impacted maxillary midline supernumerary teeth. Standardized three-dimensional maxillary replicas containing an impacted midline supernumerary tooth were randomized into an Active Robot-assisted Group (ARG) or a Freehand Group (FHG). Preoperative CBCT and intraoral scans were merged to plan osteotomy and tooth sectioning trajectories. Parameters analyzed included cortical-window formation and to

RATIONALE: Removal of impacted supernumerary teeth requires precision and accuracy to prevent iatrogenic injury to important anatomical structures during dental surgery and to improve postoperative healing.
PATIENT CONCERNS: A 12-year-old girl visited our department for the assessment and management of her deviated front teeth.
DIAGNOSIS: Impacted supernumerary tooth extraction in the maxillary anterior region.
INTERVENTIONS: The digital guide plate was fabricated after the integration of cone beam computed tomography data with that obtained from scanning the patient's dental model. Impacte

Human tooth development is a continuous process begin at the sixth weeks in utero and extends to about sixth months after birth for the primary dentition and from sixteenth week in utero to late adolescence for permanent dentition. There is no other organ of the human body which takes so long to attain its ultimate morphology as dentition. Several physiologic growth processes participate in the progressive development of the teeth including: initiation, proliferation, histodifferentiation, morphodifferentiation, apposition, calcification, and eruption. Aberrations in different stages of tooth

BACKGROUND: Cemental tear (CeT), a detachment of the root cementum, is rarely reported in pediatric populations and often misdiagnosed as root fractures or endodontic-periodontal lesions.
CASE REPORT: This is the first documented instance of CeT in a healthy 12-year-old female, likely a result of the extraction of a supernumerary tooth (mesiodens). The patient had a supernumerary tooth diagnosed at age 2 that was extracted at age 10. Radiograph after 1 year of supernumerary tooth extraction revealed a linear radiopacity adjacent to the left maxillary central incisor, diagnosed as CeT by speci

KEY CLINICAL MESSAGE: The ectopic supernumerary teeth (ST) commonly occur in the oral cavity. Ectopic ST in the maxilla can be extracted not only through an intraoral approach but also through a nasal approach.
ABSTRACT: The ectopic supernumerary teeth (ST) commonly occur in the oral cavity. We are reporting a case of a 23-year-old female patient with one ectopic ST in the anterior midmaxillary region. We extracted the ectopic ST under local tissue anesthesia through the nasal cavity using piezosurgery and minimally invasive extraction tools. During the operation, the adjacent structures rema

The goal of tooth autotransplantation is to restore a missing tooth by using a functional tooth from the same patient. Although this procedure is gaining more recognition as a viable treatment option in dentistry, it is important to monitor and report long-term results. This case report presents the long-term follow-up of a fused maxillary central incisor that was extracted and replaced with a supernumerary tooth. Although the donor tooth displayed favorable characteristics, including an intact periodontal ligament and minimal extraoral time, which contributed to the success of the transplanta

PURPOSE: Supernumerary cusps and taurodontism are both dental anomalies with complex etiology. Their combination in a non-syndromic patient is rare and requires special dental considerations. This case report is to present this occurrence and discuss its clinical significance.
METHODS: A 34-year-old male patient's cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) images were investigated.
RESULTS: Ten cusps and a pyramidal pulp chamber were observed on tooth 47. Mimics 21.0 and Geomagic 21.0 software were used for three-dimensional (3D) reconstruction of the deformed tooth. Moreover, teeth 16, 17, 26 and

INTRODUCTION: Tooth autotransplantation is a viable surgical treatment option for patients with missing permanent teeth. Premolars are generally used for autotransplantation but often require extensive modifications. This case report evaluates the use of supernumerary tooth as an alternative option for premolar autotransplantation. This report shows successful supernumerary tooth autotransplantation with 6-year follow-up.
METHODS: A 13-year-old male with non-contributory medical history was referred for a missing maxillary left central incisor (#9) and presence of a supernumerary tooth. The c

BACKGROUND: Supernumerary teeth (STs) are common odontogenic anomalies, while inverted STs with palatal perforation and nasal invasion are extremely rare and carry a high risk of misdiagnosis. This case highlights the value of interdisciplinary awareness and advanced imaging.
CASE INTRODUCTION: A 9-year-old boy with unilateral nasal obstruction (previously misdiagnosed as rhinitis) was referred to dentistry due to dental trauma. Initial panoramic X-ray identified an inverted ST but lacked clarity. Subsequent cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) with multiplanar reconstruction and 3D segmentat

Hyperdontia or supernumerary teeth are the erupted or impacted teeth, which develop in addition to the regular dental series and might cause many occlusal problems. This article sheds light on a case of impacted maxillary left central incisor (21) due to a mesiodens supernumerary tooth and a late development of another supernumerary tooth in the upper left premolar area at the end of orthodontic treatment. O.A. is an 11-year, eight-month-old male, African patient presented to the orthodontic clinic with a chief complaint "My upper front tooth did not erupt although the dentist attached a wire
