This paper describes the experience in testing for antibodies to the human immunodeficiency virus (anti-HIV) at a private institution. A total of 31,003 persons were tested between August 1986 and June 1990 including 20, 321 blood donors. The other 10,712 were visitors to the Ohso International Commune (OIC), a commune for followers of Osho Rajneesh. Another 133 patients, 45 of whom had been repeatedly transfused, were also tested. PURPOSE: People facing incurable cancer need appropriate informal psychosocial care. This study examines the experiences and needs of visitors of IPSO centers (psychosocial supporting centers for life with and after cancer) for people facing incurable cancer in order to optimize the services provided by IPSO centers for this group.

This research was conducted to analyse the violence experienced by nurses employed at six university hospitals. A descriptive and cross-sectional study was conducted. The research sample consisted of 441 nurses who worked in the emergency, intensive care and psychiatry units of six university hospitals in Turkey between June 2008 and June 2009 and who voluntarily agreed to participate. Background Studies on workplace violence against physicians in emergency departments (EDs) in Turkey are lacking. Methods To describe the frequency and types of workplace violence, a 34-question online survey of the past 12 months was sent to physicians working in EDs in Turkey. Suicides by pentobarbital overdose have increased since about 2012, which appear to be influenced by technical information on active euthanasia that has spread over the Internet. Spinal cord injury remains one of the most devastating forms of traumatic injury. The purpose of this study was to characterize the clinical characteristics of spinal cord injury patients and the geographic location where the injury occurred in the state of Hawai'i.
