The abundance of volatile elements and compounds, such as zinc, potassium, chlorine, and water, provide key evidence for how Earth and the Moon formed and evolved. Sediment-hosted ore deposits contribute a significant amount (up to 65%) of the global resources of lead and zinc. BACKGROUND: Simultaneous dual-tracer imaging using isotopes with close photo-peaks may benefit from improved properties of cadmium-zinc-telluride (CZT)-based scanners.

The intracellular iron transfer process is not well understood, and the identity of the iron transporter responsible for iron delivery to the secretory compartments remains elusive. The joint application of MS, infrared and (13)C NMR techniques for the determination of metal-DTPA structures (metal=Zn and Cd; DTPA=diethylenetriaminepentacetic acid) is reported. In order to study the metabolism of essential trace elements in diabetics, we studied alloxan-diabetic rats for the distribution patterns of chromium (Cr), cobalt (Co), iron (Fe), selenium (Se), and zinc (Zn) in the liver, kidney, pancreas, and testes, as well as in the organ subcellular fractions. Solid-state 29Si, 113Cd, 119Sn, and 31P MAS NMR spectra are reported on a series of II-IV-P2 compounds. In favorable cases (e.g., high degree of crystallinity, low concentration of unpaired electrons), well-defined spectra, with sharp lines for each specific nearest-neighbor configuration, are observed; in such cases, expected J coupling patterns are also seen. High-resolution solid-state NMR studies of this type provide useful information on structure (disorder), doping, and electron-mediated coupling in semiconductor systems.

BACKGROUND: The heart-to-contralateral lung (H/CL) ratio, derived from planar imaging, is a standard quantitative metric in 99mTc-pyrophosphate (99mTc-PYP) studies. However, cardiac-dedicated cadmium-zinc-telluride cameras, which primarily generate single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) images, cannot produce planar images. We propose the myocardium-to-cavity (M/C) ratio, derived from simultaneous dual-isotope 99mTc-PYP/201Tl SPECT imaging, as an alternative quantitative measure. This study evaluates the clinical utility of the M/C ratio by comparing it to the H/CL ratio.
