The clinical file on the value of benfluorex for hypertriglyceridaemia is highly inadequate. No clinical trials have been done with morbidity or mortality as end points. Available placebo-controlled trials are small, methodologically weak in most cases, and their results regarding triglyceride levels are contradictory.
