In this series, the patients with disturbance of small articulations of the lumbar vertebrae were treated by puncturing the effective points and reduction by manual traction with satisfactory results, the cure rate being 39.3%, the markedly effective rate 28.6%, with a total effective rate 98.3%. This method is simple and easy to master, and highly effective. Therefore it is very acceptable to the patients. It is a very excellent therapeutic method for disturbance of small articulations of the lumbar vertebrae, sometimes complicated by acute lumbar sprain and chronic lumbar strain.

INTRODUCTION: Neck pain (NP) is a common condition that can be effectively treated by acupuncture. However, several treatment point prescriptions (ie, local acupoints, distal acupoints, and sensitised acupoints) may be used. The present study aims to identify the types of sensitisation and the distribution of sensitised points in patients with NP, to analyse the cut-off values and sensitisation rate for acupoint sensitisation, and to summarise the dominant forms of optimally sensitised points. This information will be helpful when choosing the optimal points to treat NP.

This study examined whether manual acupuncture at the Siguan points (bilateral points LI4 and LR3) affects intestinal motility in healthy human subjects.
