Effectiveness of Two Differently Processed Bovine-Derived Xenografts for Alveolar Ridge Preservation with a Minimally Invasive Tooth Extraction Approach: A Feasibility Clinical Trial.

Xenogeneic-derived biomaterials are among the most routinely employed bone substitutes for immediate grafting of extraction sites as a modality of alveolar ridge preservation (ARP). The deproteinized bovine bone material is widely used and documented around the world. The present pilot clinical trial evaluated and compared the clinical and morphologic alterations of extraction sites after ARP using two commercially available yet differently processed bovine bone grafts. A total of 20 adjacent extraction sites in 10 patients were included. All sites received the exact same ARP therapy except fo

[The assessment of the clinical status of patients with alveolar hydatid disease by using statistical processing methods. 2. The correlation of laboratory tests at different disease stages and their clinical interpretation].

In 44 patients with alveolar echinococcosis, the correlation between the results of main laboratory tests were studied and their clinical interpretation was given. It was shown that at an uncomplicated stage of the disease, the immune response suppressing the helminth growth plays the main role; at the stage of complications the pathogenetic significance of non-specific inflammatory responses caused by destructive processes increases; at a stage of decompensation the correlation reflects severe immunological abnormalities and progressive immunodepression. The obtained correlations might be use

[Influencing Hard and Soft Tissue Changes Following Tooth Extraction].

Influencing Hard and Soft Tissue Changes Following Tooth Extraction Abstract. Influencing Hard and Soft Tissue Changes Following Tooth Extraction The loss of a tooth leads to the initiation of resorption processes and thus to the remodeling of the tissues of the alveolar process. At the hard tissue level, this resorption mainly affects the bundle bone at the buccal side of the extracted tooth and occurs most rapidly in the first weeks and months after extraction. Tissue changes occur not only at the level of the hard tissue (bone), but also at the level of the soft tissue. These changes lead t

Quantitative evaluation of alveolar bone resorption on dental panoramic radiographs by standardized dentition image transformation and probability estimation.

Alveolar bone resorption, which can be observed on dental panoramic radiographs (DPRs), is one of the most important signs of the progression of periodontal disease. However, quantitative and consistent evaluation of alveolar bone resorption is labor intense, because of a large number of DPR examinations performed each year. In our previous study, we developed an automated scheme for detection of three lines, corresponding to an occlusion line, an alveolar line and a root apex line, to measure the alveolar bone ratio (ABR), which may be useful to dentists in early detection of periodontal dise

Evaluation of Alveolar Bone Changes Associated with Overhanging Restorations via Fractal Analysis.

PURPOSE: There is limited information in the literature regarding when overhanging restorations should be replaced, and the topic remains underexplored. Therefore, the aims of this study were to investigate, using fractal analysis, whether overhanging restorations cause microtrabecular alterations in the adjacent alveolar bone even in the absence of radiographically visible changes, and to evaluate whether the size of the overhang contributes to the extent of these bone changes. METHODS: In periapical radiographic images of 85 individuals with overhanging restorations, regions of interest (RO

A cascading learning method with SegFormer for radiographic measurement of periodontal bone loss.

OBJECTIVE: Marginal alveolar bone loss is one of the key features of periodontitis and can be observed via panoramic radiographs. This study aimed to establish a cascading learning method with deep learning (DL) for precise radiographic bone loss (RBL) measurements at specific tooth positions. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Through the design of two tasks for tooth position recognition and tooth semantic segmentation using the SegFormer model, specific tooth's crown, intrabony portion, and suprabony portion of the roots were obtained. The RBL was subsequently measured by length through these three ar
