Three cases of patients with D(--)alpha-aminobenzylpenicillinuria are reported. On the quantitative, urinary amino acid chromatogram we found a high ninhydrinpostitive peak between the xi-aminocaproic acid and the arginine peak. An efficient depolymerization of nylon-6 to 6-aminocaproic acid hydrochloride (6ACA·HCl) in >99% yield is reported. The reaction proceeds under mild conditions and generates no detectable organic by-products, thereby eliminating the need for tedious purification. The obtained 6-ACA·HCl is a commercially valuable compound that can be converted to ε-caprolactam in 78% yield.

Antifibrinolytic agents play a prominent role in adult cardiac surgery. This article is a review of the modern published experience of antifibrinolytic agent use in adult cardiac surgery. The use of tranexamic acid, epsilon-aminocaproic acid, and aprotinin is examined during primary cardiac surgery, deep hypothermic circulatory arrest, reoperative cardiac surgery, and off-pump coronary artery bypass surgery. In addition, the issues of vein graft patency and hypersensitivity reaction in the presence of antifibrinolytic agents are examined.

A vertebroneurological examination of 187 patients with lumbar osteochondritis revealed the presence of two variants of its exacerbation: fulminant (occurring within 1-3 days) and gradual (with a longer period of progress). BACKGROUND: Tranexamic acid (TXA) is a proven effective and favored antifibrinolytic hemostatic drug, while epsilon-aminocaproic acid (EACA) has only recently been applied in the field of orthopedics.
