Behcet's Syndrome Resembling Takayasu's Arteritis with the Distribution of Arterial Involvement: A Case Report and Literature Review.

Behcet's syndrome is a variable vessel vasculitis characterized by recurrent oral and genital ulcers with concomitant skin, ocular, neurologic, gastrointestinal, and joint involvement. Herein, we present a patient who was diagnosed with Behcet's syndrome, which with magnetic resonance angiography showed occlusion of the right subclavian artery at the level of the thoracic outlet and reverse flow in the right vertebral artery consistent with subclavian steal syndrome. In addition, partial narrowing was noted in the left renal artery. The distribution of arterial involvement resembled Takayasu's

Can early-onset acquired demyelinating syndrome (ADS) hide pediatric Behcet's disease? A case report.

Behcet's disease (BD) is a rare vasculitis characterized by multisystemic inflammation. Central nervous system (CNS) involvement is rare and heterogeneous, particularly in the pediatric population. A diagnosis of neuro-Behcet could be highly challenging, especially if neurological manifestations precede other systemic features; however, its timely definition is crucial to prevent long-term sequelae. In this study, we describe the case of a girl who, at 13 months of age, presented with a first episode of encephalopathy compatible with acute disseminated encephalomyelitis, followed, after 6 mont

Superior vena cava syndrome associated with Behcet's disease and 18 months' follow up: a case report.

Behcet's disease is a multisystemic disorder that the main pathological defect is vasculitis and superior vena cava syndrome (SVCS) caused by vasculopathy is a rare manifestation of the disease. Although successful results of endovascular surgery were observed in some cases, medical therapy may have priority among the treatment alternatives because of the high risk of surgery due to the lesional localization of the vessel. In this report, a Behcet's disease case with SVCS and 18 months' follow-up data with medical therapy is presented.

Intestinal Behcet's syndrome with an unusual complication bladder-intestines fistula and urinary tract infections-A case report.

A 33-year-old male patient with a 17-year Behcet's syndrome history showed abdominal pain and fever symptoms. The abdominal CT was suggestive of an acute ileocecal intestinal perforation. In addition, the symptoms disappeared after the conservative treatment. Some related examinations, including capsule endoscopy, were performed to explain the phenomenon of the food residue urine. These results indicated the intestine-urinary tract fistula formation, supposed to be the outcome of intestinal Behcet's syndrome perforation. This is a rare case of intestinal Behcet's syndrome with abdominal sympto

Higher Expression of NOD1 and NOD2 is Associated with Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada (VKH) Syndrome But Not Behcet's Disease (BD).

NOD1 and NOD2 have been found to play a significant regulatory role in autoimmune disease. To analyze the role of NOD1 and NOD2 in the pathogenesis of Vogt- Koyanagi-Harada (VKH) syndrome and Behcet's disease (BD). We analyzed the expression of NOD1 and NOD2 from PBMCs by RT-PCR and Western Blot. PBMCs and DCs were cultured with NOD receptor ligands iE-DAP (NOD1) or MDP (NOD2) and cells and supernatants were analyzed by flow cytometry (FCM) and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). DCs and CD4+T cells were co-cultured with or without stimulation and cells and supernatants were analyzed by

Autoimmune Mastitis in a Patient with Behcet's Syndrome: A Case Report with Rapid Changes in Radiologic Features and Characteristic Pathologic Findings.

Breast manifestations of autoimmune diseases are rare but may present as localized disease or as part of a systemic disease. The most common clinical presentations of autoimmune mastitis are palpable masses and mastalgia, but patients can also be asymptomatic. Its radiological features are nonspecific and varied; it usually appears as an irregular hypoechoic mass or ill-defined hypoechoic nonmass lesion that mimics malignancy, with or without duct ectasia on breast ultrasonography. On breast MRI, segmental or regional nonmass enhancement is observed. However, due to its nonspecific and rapid c

Copy number variations and gene polymorphisms of complement components in ocular Behcet's disease and Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada syndrome.

Complement is involved in many immune-mediated diseases. However, the association of its copy number variations (CNVs) and polymorphisms with Behcet's disease (BD) and Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada syndrome (VKH) is unknown. We examined copy number and mRNA expression by real-time PCR. Cytokine production by stimulated peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) in genotyped individuals was measured by ELISA. The frequencies of having more than two copies of C3 were significantly increased in BD and VKH, whereas CNV of C5 was only associated with BD. Increased frequencies of the GG genotype of C3 rs4082

Elevated serum granulocyte colony-stimulating factor levels in patients with active phase of sweet syndrome and patients with active behcet disease: implication in neutrophil apoptosis dysfunction.

BACKGROUND: Sweet syndrome (SS), an acute inflammatory disease, has clinical and laboratory features similar to those of Behçet disease (BD). Serum levels of granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) are elevated in patients with SS, and exogenous administration of G-CSF has repeatedly been implicated in the causation of SS. Granulocyte colony-stimulating factor is a hematopoietic growth factor that regulates the production and differentiation of neutrophils. OBJECTIVES: To clarify the role of elevated serum G-CSF levels in patients with active SS and active BD compared with those with in
