Application of light in delirium: a bibliometric analysis.

BACKGROUND: Delirium is an acute neurocognitive disorder prevalent among older adults and critically ill patients. Light therapy has garnered growing interest as a potential non-pharmacologic intervention for delirium management. This study conducted a bibliometric analysis of Web of Science Core Collection publications to systematically evaluate research progress and evolutionary trends in light therapy for delirium. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Publications were retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection. Bibliometric parameters including temporal trends, geographical distribution, institu

Bibliometric Analysis of Research on Lip Prints.

Lip prints, or cheiloscopy, are unique patterns of grooves and wrinkles, gaining prominence in forensic science as reliable tools for personal identification, akin to fingerprints and DNA profiling. Advances in imaging techniques have enhanced their forensic applicability. This study conducts a bibliometric analysis to explore global research trends, key contributors, and thematic developments in lip print research. The search was done with a range of databases like Web of Science, Scopus, and PubMed in September 2024. Included were pertinent studies on lip print analysis, and studies that wer

A bibliometric analysis of cardiotoxicity in cancer radiotherapy.

BACKGROUND: Radiotherapy, a primary treatment for malignant cancer, presents significant clinical challenges globally due to its associated adverse effects, especially with the increased survival rates of cancer patients. Radiation induced heart disease (RIHD) significantly impacts the long-term survival and quality of life of cancer survivors as one of the most devastating consequences. Quite a few studies have been conducted on preclinical and clinical trials of RIHD, showing promising success to some extent. However, no researchers have performed a comprehensive bibliometric study so far.

Artificial intelligence in anesthesiology: a bibliometric analysis.

The application of artificial intelligence (AI) in anesthesiology has become increasingly widespread. However, no previous study has analyzed this field from the bibliometric analysis dimension. The objective of this paper was to assess the global research trends in AI in anesthesiology using bibliometric software. Literatures relevant to AI and anesthesiology were retrieved from the Web of Science until 10 April 2024 and were visualized and analyzed using Excel, CiteSpace, and VOSviewer. After screening, 491 studies were included in the final bibliometric analysis. The growth rate of publicat

Multispectral imaging in medicine: A bibliometric study.

Multispectral Imaging has been used in many fields. In the medical field, Multispectral Imaging is still in its infancy. However, due to its excellent potential, it will also become one of the most important medical imaging in the future. This paper is the first bibliometric study in this field. The study comprehensively searched all relevant documents in Web of Science Core Collection from Jan 1, 1999 to Dec 31, 2022, systematically sorted out the author, journal, country and institution in this field, and analyzed the keywords. Based on this, the study suggests that researchers and healthcar

Bibliometric analysis of PTEN in neurodevelopment and neurodegeneration.

Phosphatase and tensin homologue deleted on chromosome ten (PTEN) was initially recognized as a significant regulator of cancer suppression and could impede cancer cell survival, proliferation, and energy metabolism. PTEN is highly expressed in neurons and performs crucial functions in neurogenesis, synaptogenesis, and neuronal survival. Disruption of PTEN activity may also result in abnormal neuronal function and is associated with various neurological disorders, including stroke, seizures, and autism. Although several studies have shown that PTEN is involved in the development and degenerati

Trichotillomania: A perspective from bibliometric analysis.

Aim: Trichotillomania, an obsessive-compulsive-related disorder, is defined by the recurrent act of pulling out one's own hair from different areas of the body. Despite the considerable body of research dedicated to the subject of trichotillomania, the overarching trends that unify these studies remain obscure. The purpose of the present bibliometric analysis was to ascertain these trends.Method: To achieve this objective, we conducted a thorough search of publications in the Web of Science database and subsequently evaluated the acquired data using VOSviewer software. Results: The most cited a

A bibliometric overview of craniosynostosis research development.

This article reviews the development of research in the field of craniosynostosis from a bibliometric standpoint. Craniosynostosis is a malformation occurring during the early development of the skull, when one or more of the sutures close too early, causing problems with normal brain and skull growth. Research in this field has developed from early clinical case descriptions, to genetic discoveries responsible for the occurring malformations and onwards to developing sophisticated surgical treatment. In this article we describe these developments, zoom in on publication trends and characteris

Bibliometric Analysis of the Inflammasome and Pyroptosis in Brain.

Background: Considering the pivotal role of inflammasome/pyroptosis in biological function, we visually analyzed the research hotspots of inflammasome/pyroptosis related to the brain in this work through the method of bibliometrics from the Web of Science (WOS) Core database over the past two decades. Methods: Documents were retrieved from WOS Core Collection on October 16, 2020. The search terms and strategies used for the WOS database are as follow: # 1, "pyroptosis"; # 2, "pyroptotic"; # 3, "inflammasome"; # 4, "pyroptosome"; # 5 "brain"; # 6, "# 1" OR "# 2" OR "# 3" OR "# 4"; # 7, "# 5" AN

The evolution of hypospadias publications: A bibliometric approach.

BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVE: Although the increasing prevalence of hypospadias has been reported in many countries, there is a lack of bibliometric studies that make a holistic assessment of the publications about this issue. This study aims to make a holistic evaluation, latest developments, and trend topics about hypospadias publications between 1980 and 2018 through bibliometric analysis. METHODS: All the publications about hypospadias published in the Web of Science index between 1980 and 2018 were downloaded and analyzed using bibliometric methods. Comprehensive assessment of quantitative ultrasound and bone mineral density in osteoporosis screening: An empirical study using Mendelian randomization and bibliometrics.

Osteoporosis is a systemic skeletal disease characterized by decreased bone mass and microstructural destruction of bone tissue, leading to fragile bones and susceptibility to fractures, significantly affecting the quality of life of patients and increasing the socioeconomic burden. The aim of this study was to investigate the independence of quantitative ultrasound (QUS) of the heel bone in the prediction of osteoporosis and associated fractures, especially its relationship with bone mineral density (BMD). We used Mendelian randomization to analyze the causal relationship between QUS and BMD,

Systematic analysis of hip-preserving treatment for early osteonecrosis of the femoral head from the perspective of bibliometrics (2010-2023).

BACKGROUND: Osteonecrosis of the femoral head (ONFH) is a serious condition that causes bone tissue death, femoral head collapse, and hip joint destruction. Early intervention through hip-preserving treatment is crucial to slow down disease progression, preserve hip joint function, and improve the quality of life of patients. We analyzed the knowledge map, research gaps, and future research directions in the field of hip-preserving treatment for early ONFH. METHODS: All publications related to hip-preserving treatment for early ONFH published between 2010 and 2023 were identified from the Web

Augmenting Large Language Models With Automated, Bibliometrics-Powered Literature Search for Knowledge Distillation: A Pilot Study for Common Spinal Pathologies.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Scholarly output is accelerating in medical domains, making it challenging to keep up with the latest neurosurgical literature. The emergence of large language models (LLMs) has facilitated rapid, high-quality text summarization. However, LLMs cannot autonomously conduct literature reviews and are prone to hallucinating source material. We devised a novel strategy that combines Reference Publication Year Spectroscopy-a bibliometric technique for identifying foundational articles within a corpus-with LLMs to automatically summarize and cite salient details from articl
