The daily melatonin rhythms and the effect of light pulse on this hormone were evaluated for Amazonian fish, Astronotus ocellatus and Brycon amazonicus. BACKGROUND: Tambaqui (Colossoma macropomum, Cuvier, 1818) is the most economically important native freshwater fish species in Brazil.
