Chrysanthemum 3,5-O-dicaffeoylquinic acid ameliorates mouse alcoholic liver injury by suppressing the TLR-4/NF-κB pathway and restoring glycerophospholipid homeostasis.

3,5-O-Dicaffeoylquinic acid (3,5-DCQA) from edible Gongju chrysanthemum has shown protective effects against alcoholic hepatocyte injury in our previous study. However, the specific effects and mechanisms of 3,5-DCQA in a mouse model of liver injury remain underexplored. This study aimed to examine the efficacy and primary mechanism of 3,5-DCQA from Gongju chrysanthemum in ameliorating acute alcoholic liver injury in mice. The results indicated that 3,5-DCQA effectively attenuated inflammation and apoptosis by regulating the content of key factors (e.g. MyD88, NF-κB) in the TLR-4/NF-κB pathway

Transcriptomic and functional evidence for a CiHY5-CiMYB12-like module associated with UV-B-enhanced drought acclimation in Chrysanthemum indicum var. aromaticum.

An aromatic ornamental and medicinal plant resource, Chrysanthemum indicum var. aromaticum grows at elevations above 2000 m, where it is exposed to strong ultraviolet-B (UV-B) radiation and other environmental constraints. Our previous research indicated that supplemental UV-B improves drought acclimation in C. indicum var. aromaticum. However, the underlying molecular mechanisms remain unclear. This study performed transcriptome sequencing of C. indicum var. aromaticum leaves following 4 h of supplemental UV-B exposure. The response involved multiple signaling and defense-related processes, w

The extract of Chrysanthemum indicum Linne inhibits EBV LMP1-induced NF-κB activation and the viability of EBV-transformed lymphoblastoid cell lines.

Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) latent infection transforms B lymphocytes into proliferating lymphoblastoid cell lines (LCLs). EBV latent infection membrane protein 1 (LMP1) is required for EBV-mediated B lymphocyte transformation, and LMP1-induced NF-κB activation is essential for LCL survival. To identify a novel inhibitor candidate for LMP1-induced NF-κB activation, crude ethanol extracts of medicinal plants were screened for the potential NF-κB inhibitory activity. Seventy percent ethanol extract of Chrysanthemum indicum Linne extract (CIE) strongly reduced LMP1-induced NF-κB activation. In addit

New insights into the biological activities of Chrysanthemum morifolium: Natural flavonoids alleviate diabetes by targeting α-glucosidase and the PTP-1B signaling pathway.

As dual regulators, the PTP-1B signaling pathway and α-glucosidase slow glucose release and increase the degree of insulin sensitivity, representing a promising therapeutic target for type 2 diabetes. In this study, we systematically examined the in vivo and in vitro anti-diabetic activities of natural flavonoids 1-6 from Chrysanthemum morifolium. Flavonoids 1-6 increased glucose consumption-promoting activity and the phosphorylation of GSK-3β and Akt, and decreased PTP-1B protein level along with slightly inhibitory activity of the PTP-1B enzyme. Moreover, flavonoids 1-2 treatment induced ins
