Echinacoside Ameliorates UVB-Induced Skin Damage Through Selective Inhibition of the Cutaneous TRPV3 Channel.

Excessive exposure to ultraviolet B (UVB) radiation can lead to skin damage, such as erythema and swelling. Echinacoside is a key effective ingredient of medicinal plant Cistanche deserticola commonly used for therapies and treatments for anti-aging and irradiation-related skin diseases. However, the molecular mechanism underlying the action of echinacoside remains unclear. Here, we report that echinacoside ameliorates UVB-induced skin damage by directly acting on the Ca2+-permeable and thermosensitive transient receptor potential vanilloid 3 (TRPV3) channel. Topical application of echinacosid

Antinociceptive and neuroprotective effect of echinacoside on peripheral neuropathic pain in mice through inhibiting P2X7R/FKN/CX3CR1 pathway.

Clinically, neuropathic pain treatment remains a challenging issue because the major therapy, centred around pharmacological intervention, is not satisfactory enough to patient by reason of low effectiveness and more adverse reaction. Therefore, it is still necessary to find more effective and safe therapy to ameliorate neuropathic pain. The purpose of this study was to explore the antinociceptive effect of Echinacoside (ECH), an active compound of Cistanche deserticola Ma, on peripheral neuropathic pain induced by chronic constriction injury (CCI) in mice, and to demonstrate its potential mec

[Research progress on Parkinson's disease treatment with traditional Chinese medicine via regulating Nrf2/HO-1 signaling pathway].

Parkinson's disease(PD) is a neurodegenerative disorder characterized by the progressive degeneration of dopaminergic neurons in the substantia nigra and the accumulation of Lewy bodies. While conventional drugs like levodopa can improve early symptoms, their efficacy diminishes over time, and they may cause severe side effects. Traditional Chinese medicine(TCM), with its multi-target therapeutic approach, has shown unique advantages in PD treatment, particularly in slowing disease progression and improving clinical symptoms. The nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2(Nrf2)/heme oxygenase

Beneficial effect of 2'-acetylacteoside on ovariectomized mice via modulating the function of bone resorption.

2'-Acetylacteoside-(2'-AA), a bioactive constituent isolated from Cistanche deserticola, has been proven to possess a variety of important pharmacological effects, thus brought an increased amount of scientists' attention. As the extract of C. deserticola exhibited significant anti-osteoporotic bioactivity in our previous study, we proposed that 2'-AA maybe one of the responsibilities. As a result, 2'-AA (10, 20 and 40 mg/kg body weight/day) exhibited significant anti-osteoporotic effects on ovariectomized (OVX) mice after 12 weeks of oral administration, confirmed by the increased bone minera

Acteoside alleviates blood-brain barrier damage induced by ischemic stroke through inhibiting microglia HMGB1/TLR4/NLRP3 signaling.

Ischemic stroke (IS) can cause severe harm, inducing oxidative stress, inflammation, and pyroptotic death. IS treatment efficacy remains limited, and microglia are important regulators of IS-related blood-brain barrier (BBB) damage. It is thus vital that new therapeutic agents capable of targeting microglia be identified to treat IS-related damage to the BBB. Acteoside (ACT), which is a compound derived from Cistanche tubulosa (Schenk) Wight., offers promising bioactivity, but its ability to protect against central nervous system injury remains to be documented. To clarify the protective benef
