INTRODUCTION: Neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) comprise a group of twenty diverse diseases or conditions that pose significant public health challenges and adversely impact the quality of life of affected individuals. NTDs are characterised by interconnected biological, social, and environmental factors, which complicate their effective management and eradication. Collaborative research, such as transdisciplinary research (TDR) and participatory approaches that engage scientific, societal, and non-academic stakeholders in co-creating action-driven solutions offer promising strategies to addr

BACKGROUND: Community-engaged research depends on sharing findings effectively; however, few tools translate implementation capacity and readiness data into actionable feedback. This gap limits community organizations' ability to use results to guide health program implementation, build trust in research, and sustain ongoing participation. This study developed and used a tailored survey response report process for congregations participating in the Engaging Partners in Caring Communities (EPICC) project to support implementation planning and technical assistance.
METHODS: The EPICC CFIR-infor

Refugees face turbulent experiences while fleeing war and conflict, resulting in higher rates of disability. Refugees with disabilities (RWDs) often experience increased marginalization, which is rooted in structural oppression, leading to mistrust of institutions, including academic research. Participatory research (PR) has gained attention for its applicability in engaging underrecognized populations to challenge systemic barriers. To understand the effectiveness of PR, we conducted a scoping review using Arksey and O'Malley's framework to synthesize published studies that used PR with RWDs

BACKGROUND: People who are homeless or vulnerably housed face significant health inequities and yet are rarely involved in health and social care research as participants, public contributors or co-researchers. The I Am More Than… project was developed to address this lack of inclusion by working in partnership with community organisations and individuals with lived experiences of being homeless or vulnerably housed.
OBJECTIVE: To co-design a flexible and inclusive approach for public and community involvement in research (sometimes referred to as public and patient involvement or PPI).

BACKGROUND: Participatory health research and promotion (PHR/P) emphasizes collaborative knowledge production, mutual learning, and redistribution of power between academic and non-academic actors. With children, PHR/P has gained increasing legitimacy under the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, which recognizes children as rights-holders and social actors. However, little is known about how PHR/P with children is framed and enacted in Germany. This review provides the first systematic overview of PHR/P with children in Germany.
METHODS: We conducted a scoping review follow

The topic of this scoping review is the use of targeted engagement methods to engage Filipino Americans (FAs) in prevention research studies. FAs are the third largest Asian subgroup in the United States. Given the historical relationship between the Philippines and United States, FAs are often under-represented in research and are hard to reach due to factors such as cultural mistrust, linguistic mismatch, and unfamiliarity with research. This scoping review synthesized findings across 11 studies which met the criteria for inclusion. Studies were included if they demonstrated engagement metho

BACKGROUND: Birmingham AIDS Outreach (BAO) is one of three study sites partnering with the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health (Pitt Public Health) for a National Institutes of Health-funded randomized controlled trial on a financial management intervention for people with HIV who are experiencing homelessness or housing instability. After the onset of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic in March 2020, the study team used a community-engaged approach to adapt research protocols at this site. We sought to describe a community-engaged approach to restarting Nat

BACKGROUND: Using inclusive research methods with people with intellectual disabilities is increasingly common. A recent consensus statement identified key elements when conducting and reporting inclusive research with people with intellectual disabilities. This review identifies the range of health and social care research topics using inclusive research methodologies, systematically appraises the involvement of researchers with intellectual disabilities, and identifies facilitators and barriers to inclusive research. Researchers' experiences of engaging with inclusive research are synthesise

There is a pressing need for research that prioritizes the inclusion of diverse communities in the alcohol research field. A community-engaged approach can lead to more sustainable approaches, enhance buy-in, and lead to actions that are more equitable. The Community Engagement Studio (CES) model, which facilitates discussions between researchers, community engagement coordinators, and community experts, is one structured method to support conducting community-engaged research. In our creative alcohol study, we utilized Collaborative Filmmaking (CF) - a participatory, visual research method -

Health equity and the capacity to build it may be better achieved when the approaches of participatory practice and participant observation are more intentionally implemented together in applied, action research. An exploration of the literature compared results from a title and abstract search for the phrases participatory and participant observation. When searched for together, the number of articles that was retrieved was very low, flagging an issue worth consideration. A comparison of the approaches' historical development, theoretical foundations, and practical applications sheds light on

Traumatic experiences are highly prevalent among people experiencing homelessness who face structural inequities, which may impact engagement in research. Research staff ("staff") working with people experiencing homelessness are under-equipped to cope with structural inequities and the trauma present in participants' lives, even if they are well-trained in the regulatory aspects of the research process. Six staff involved in tobacco cessation intervention research with people experiencing homelessness described their experiences and highlighted areas of training to integrate trauma-informed a

Public health research often relies on top-down approaches that do not adequately address local needs or engage end-users as active participants. This article narrates the implementation of a bottom-up health research approach at the Model Rural Health Research Unit (MRHRU) in Puducherry, India, aimed at prioritising community participation in health research. The model leverages a participatory approach to integrate local stakeholders into the research process. The study outlines a structured, democratic process for stakeholder engagement, beginning with the identification and network-buildin

While youth participatory action research (YPAR), a youth-adult partnered or youth-led approach to knowledge generation and social change, has burgeoned over the last decade, challenges remain related to capacity for its implementation. Yet, the field lacks a YPAR implementation capacity framework. Here, we created a YPAR implementation capacity framework by adapting a key domain (innovation-specific capacity) of a foundational organizational readiness framework that had previously been applied to YPAR conceptually but not empirically. Using literature from a systematic review of YPAR articles
