BACKGROUND: In this article, we present the results of a multicenter clinical trial of IFN-γ in patients with drug-susceptible and drug-resistant pulmonary Tuberculosis (TB) in routine clinical practice.
OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to confirm the efficacy and safety of IFN-γ administered to patients with TB.
METHODS: All patients were diagnosed with TB after being tested by bacterioscopic and molecular genetic methods and had no contraindications to standard chemotherapy.
RESULTS: Recombinant human IFN-γ proved high efficacy in multi-center clinical trial in routine TB practice.

Intracanal UV irradiation combined with the use of gentamycin 0.1% solution was tried in the treatment of 151 teeth diagnosed as acute and exacerbated chronic periodontitis. The method reduces duration of the course of treatment 1.6-fold as compared to conventional drug therapy, ensuring a favourable outcome of treatment in 90% of observations. Besides, this treatment option is well tolerated by the patients; it is harm-free, with no contraindications being known.

We report on a 28-year-old man with hematemesis, renal dysfunction, and arterial hypertension who suffered from an acute gouty attack presenting as podagra. Because of the accompanying symptoms conventional treatment of the gouty attack with colchicine or nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs was contraindicated. We treated the pain of acute arthritis with the specific 5-hydroxytryptamine subtype 3 receptor antagonist ondansetron.
