The comparative morphology of the gastric mucosal microvasculature was investigated using the corrosion casting technique. The vascular pattern consisted of a hexagonally arranged capillary plexus surrounding the gastric glands and terminating in venules running perpendicular to the mucosal axis. Vessels of the pyloric antrum demonstrated an acute angle between capillaries and venules, whereas vessels of the gastroduodenal junction changed from a honeycomb pattern to a leaf-like arrangement.

The semiprecious metals investigated and hard dental gold alloys may be manipulated in a similar manner. The semiprecious metals produced accurate and well-fitted dowels needing minimal adjustment. Being harder than type III gold alloy, they would be ideal for casting dowels and cores. Before considering these semiprecious alloys as final restorations, however, they must be further examined for resistance to tarnish and corrosion and their marginal adaptability and burnishability.

The objective of this study was to evaluate change in color in experimental titanium-20mass% chromium (Ti-20Cr) alloy in an oral environment. Pure Ti and Ti-6Al-7Nb and Co-29Cr-5Mo alloys, as references to compare change in color, were prepared by casting. The cast specimen was mirror-polished. Using corrosion casting, we demonstrate and describe a new vascular system--the vertebral venous plexus--in eight snake species representing three families. The plexus consists of a network of spinal veins coursing within and around the vertebral column and was previously documented only in mammals.
