Spontaneous intrauterine depressed skull fractures are a rare entity. They can appear secondarily to head trauma (before or during birth) or due to unknown etiology. They usually require a complete evaluation from pediatric neurosurgery specialists. Their optimal management, including timely surgical treatment remains controversial. We describe two cases delivered by cesarean section, with postnatal diagnosis of spontaneous intrauterine depressed skull fracture. Both had a normal neurological exam. Bladder rupture is a rare complication following bladder cancer, but has a high mortality rate. Since bladder rupture is an emergency, the diagnosis and treatment of the cancer is usually delayed. Here we report a 56-year-old male patient who presented to our emergency department with severe abdominal pain, abdominal distension, left leg pain and difficulty in walking without history of significant trauma and ended up with diagnoses of spontaneous bladder rupture and non-traumatic pelvic fracture caused by bladder carcinoma.

Injuries occurring during soccer tend to occur with lower energy transfer than in some other contact sports. Tibial and femoral shaft fractures occasionally occur, but pelvic fractures are rare. Renal osteodystrophy is a spectrum of musculoskeletal abnormalities. Bony fractures can occur spontaneously or with minor trauma in this condition. The authors report the first case of balloon kyphoplasty treatment for painful renal osteodystrophy vertebral body collapse secondary to end-stage renal failure on dialysis. The authors have demonstrated that kyphoplasty is a safe procedure for pain management in severe dystrophic patients. We report the first case of the assessment and treatment of a spontaneous patellar fracture in a patient with Goltz syndrome-a rare dermal hypoplasia. This case illustrates the non-straightforward presentation of a spontaneous patellar fracture in seemingly osteoporotic bone stock further complicated by the inability to rule out osteomyelitis. In this confusing presentation, a high index of suspicion for patella fracture should be maintained for patients with knee pain and osteoporosis on x-ray with a dysplastic syndrome.

This article describes the case of a 78-year-old patient whose mandibular fracture was treated with miniplate osteosynthesis. After initial treatment, panoramic radiography revealed a fracture of the miniplate, and at follow-up, a loosening of the replacement plate. For the dental practitioner, this clinical case highlights the importance of panoramic radiography and occlusal analysis and stabilization for diagnosis of mandibular fracture, evaluation of miniplate fracture and treatment, especially in the absence of trauma.
