Evaluating the mechanism of tolerance and biotransformation Zn(II) ions by Fusarium solani based on the different physiological was the objective of this work. The physical properties of synthesized ZnONPs was determined by UV-spectroscopy, transmission electron microscope, and X-ray powder diffraction. The structural and anatomical changes of F. solani in response to Zn(II) was examined by TEM and SEM. From the HPLC profile, oxalic acid by F. solani was strongly increased by about 10.5 folds in response to 200 mg/l Zn(II) comparing to control cultures. The highest biosorption potential were r

Fusarium head blight (FHB) caused by Fusarium graminearum is a devastating disease of cereal crops worldwide. Recently, a novel fungicide JS399-19 has been launched into the marketplace to manage FHB. It is compelling that JS399-19 shows highly inhibitory activity towards some Fusarium species, but not to other fungi, indicating that it is an environmentally compatible fungicide. To explore the mode of action of this species-specific compound, we conducted a whole-genome transcript profiling together with genetic and biochemical assays, and discovered that JS399-19 targets the myosin I of F. g

Disseminated infection by Fusarium is a rare, frequently lethal condition in severely immunocompromised patients, including bone marrow transplant recipients. However, autologous bone marrow transplant recipients are not expected to be at high risk to develop fusariosis. We report a rare case of lethal disseminated Fusarium infection in an autologous bone marrow transplant recipient during pre-engraftment phase.

PURPOSE: To determine differences in the clinical characteristics and antifungal susceptibility patterns among molecularly characterized ocular Fusarium sp isolates.
METHODS: Fifty-eight isolates of Fusarium sp obtained from 52 eyes of 52 patients were retrieved from the Ocular Microbiology Laboratory of the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute and grown in pure culture. These isolates were characterized based on DNA sequence analysis of the ITS1/2 and ribosomal deoxyribonucleic acid regions. Antifungal susceptibilities were determined for each isolate using broth microdilution methods, and the corres

INTRODUCTION: Fusarium keratitis is a severe corneal infection that is usually seen in tropical and subtropical countries after a corneal trauma. In 2005-2006, an epidemic of Fusarium keratitis, occurring predominantly among contact lens wearers, was observed in several countries.
CASE REPORT: We describe the clinical course of a Fusarium keratitis which failed to respond to systemic and local voriconazole treatment, and experienced a progression to a severe keratitis with endophthalmitis, requiring early therapeutic keratoplasty ("à chaud"). After 8 months of follow up, the vision recovered

Intensive immunosuppressive therapy and broad spectrum antibiotics predispose cancer patients to opportunistic fungal infections. Fusarium has rarely been reported as a pathogen in immunocompromised patients, but is almost uniformly fatal. Only six cases of disseminated Fusarium infection have been described in patients following bone marrow transplantation (BMT). We report here two additional cases. Fusarium infection initially presented with pyomyositis in one patient and with embolic skin lesions in another following T cell-depleted BMT. Both patients died with active Fusarium infection des

BACKGROUND: Cucumber Fusarium wilt, caused by Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cucumerinum, is aggravated by fusaric acid, a phytotoxic virulence factor that can disrupt rhizosphere microbial communities. Spent mushroom substrate can suppress Fusarium wilt, but whether this protection is linked to reduced fusaric acid stress in the rhizosphere remains unclear.
RESULTS: Spent mushroom substrate adsorbed fusaric acid in vitro and reduced its transfer through natural soil. Adsorption fitted the Langmuir-Freundlich isotherm, with a maximum adsorption capacity of 52.72 μg g-1, and followed pseudo-second-

A Florida cattle rancher undergoing treatment for lumbar osteomyelitis presented with severe neutropenia and febrile episodes after being discharged on a seven-week course of intravenous (IV) vancomycin and cefepime. Upon admission, antibiotics were changed, and micafungin and filgrastim were added. Several days later, he had a normalizing absolute neutrophil count (ANC) and improving fevers with an overall good clinical appearance. Discharge seemed near, but he continued to complain of nasal congestion and mild oromaxillary pain. In caution, a CT maxillofacial scan and ENT evaluation were per

Stem canker of coffee (SCC) is caused by Fusarium solani, F. decemcellulare, and F. lateritium, which induces symptoms such as cankers, wilting, yellowing, and dieback of plagiotropic and orthotropic twigs, leading to the death of the coffee plants. The absence of a standardized inoculation method to assess the disease hampers the development and implementation of effective strategies to manage and mitigate the impact of SCC. This study evaluated the efficacy of three inoculation methods in inducing SCC, and it was carried out in both laboratory and greenhouse conditions. The conidial inoculat

The capacity to form biofilms is a common trait among many microorganisms present on Earth. In this study, we demonstrate for the first time that the fatal pine pitch canker agent, Fusarium circinatum, can lead a biofilm-like lifestyle with aggregated hyphal bundles wrapped in extracellular matrix (ECM). Our research shows F. circinatum's ability to adapt to environmental changes by assuming a biofilm-like lifestyle. This was demonstrated by varying metabolic activities exhibited by the biofilms in response to factors like temperature and pH. Further analysis revealed that while planktonic cel

Fusarium is one of the most important genera of plant-pathogenic fungi in the world and arguably the world's most important mycotoxin-producing genus. Fusarium species produce a staggering array of toxic metabolites that contribute to plant disease and mycotoxicoses in humans and other animals. A thorough understanding of the mycotoxin potential of individual species is crucial for assessing the toxicological risks associated with Fusarium diseases. There are thousands of reports of mycotoxin production by various species, and there have been numerous attempts to summarize them. These efforts

Fungi of the genus Fusarium are well known as major plant pathogens but also cause a broad spectrum of human infections. Sixty-three clinical isolates, collected during 2014-2017, were identified using a part of the TEF1 gene as barcoding marker. Fusarium fujikuroi species complex (FFSC, n = 41, 65%) showed to be the dominant etiological agent, followed by F. solani species complex (FSSC, n = 14, 22%) and F. oxysporum species complex (FOSC, n = 7, 11%). There was one strain belonging to F. lateritium species complex (FLSC, n = 1, 1.5%). For final identification, a phylogenetic tree was constru

Fusariosis is an infection that is caused by fungi of the Fusarium genus. It is the second most common fungus that is associated with human fungal infections, usually in immunocompromised individuals. The incidence of such infections has been increasing, including in immunocompetent hosts. Studies of host-pathogen interactions are scarce, and the pathophysiology of the disease is unknown. One limitation of such studies is the lack of adequate techniques for mammalian infection, in which no standardized protocols have been established with fungi with a focus on the respiratory tract. The aim of
