BACKGROUND An adenomatoid tumor is a benign neoplasm that originates in the mesothelial lining, commonly present in the male and female genital tracts. The lieomyoadenomatoid tumor (LMAT) is rare and considered an adenomatoid variant, characterized microscopically by prominent smooth muscle proliferation within an adenomatoid tumor. Areas of pseudo-glandular infiltration and tubular and slit-like spaces can mimic metastatic carcinoma or malignant tumors. We treated 105 patients with anogenital warts with cotton swabs soaked in liquid nitrogen. 90.1% of the patients were cured, but recurrences were observed in 19.5%. With this method we obtained better clinical results than those obtained with the cryoprobes system. Good results were obtained when the lesions were accessible for treatment, but neither the time of evolution nor the size influenced the cure.

The human papillomavirus (HPV) belongs to a small group of viruses which are known to cause tumors in humans. Not only do they cause benign papillomas, but they are also implicated in the pathogenesis of some malignancies. For this reason, it is important for both the practicing physicians and students to know about recent advances in the study of these viruses. The following is a review of the etiologic role of HPV in non-genital and genital warts, laryngeal papillomas, and their possible roles in several malignancies.

Fibrous pseudotumors are rare benign lesions that originate within the paratesticular tissues. Local excision is the preferred method of treatment of these tumors over radical orchiectomy, however a definitive diagnosis must be made beforehand given the similarity of these tumors to malignant entities. We present a case of fibrous pseudotumor of the tunica vaginalis and cauda epididymis. A diagnosis of fibrous pseudotumor could not be established despite the use of intraoperative frozen section, therefore necessitating radical orchiectomy.

Pathological processes of the scrotum are very numerous. They are composed by few common well known diseases and a large spectrum of rare lesions. The testis may be involved by some systemic diseases. Ultrasound is the main modality for scrotal imaging and complementary to clinical evaluation. When a tumoral process is suspected, surgery is required to confirm the diagnosis and provide histology. The role of MR remains under evaluation.
